I'm having problems with my shifter. When the bike isn't on, I can shift fine from 1st, neutral, 2nd etc. However, once the motor is running, I can shift into 1st, but not back into neutral or 2nd. The bike was recently let down.

Is the clutch sticking at all? If the clutch sticks some it will be harder or impossible to shift. If the clutch lever or cables were damaged this could be a problem.

I think the clutch cables are ok. coz it shifts when the motor is not on... it only seems to be an issue once the bike is running.

Have you tried playing with the throttle in the same way as you would to shift without the clutch?

Does the bike try to roll away if you let off the brake while the engine is running and the bike is in gear? If so the clutch is dragging from not fully disengaging.

Might want to give Alan a call...

It sort of rolls forward a bit when i pull the clutch in all the way.... I think that's what you mean.

??? You mean dropped?

But it does sound like your clutch is dragging. The transmission has to be unloaded to allow the dogs to disengage one gear set and engage the next. If your clutch is dragging, the tranny is loaded and the dogs can't do their thing.

Or something like that...
