The oil pans that come on these bikes are cast very thin and are very fragile. The drain plug has a torque rating of only 16.5 ft-ilbs. If you over tighten and/or don't use a new crush washer the pan will crack if over tightened. Apparantly there have been people cracking pans here and there lately. Be careful when changing oil yourself to follow the correct torque rating, the owners manual just says to "tighten securely" but the shop manual has the rating of 16.5 ilbs. Of course this is a good practice on ANY bike you change oil on, but this oil pan specifically is very fragile and there is no margin for error. If you've never changed oil on a sportsbike before they are all most likely cast aluminum oil pans, unlike stamped steel pans on most cars with steel threads(that most people are used to tightening really hard). This is why sportbikes have crushwashers to seal the drain bolt and why you have to use a new one everytime you change oil. They don't need a lot of torque when using a new one.
EDIT: this is actually for the 750's not sure if the 600 pans are made the same way or are the same(but I bet they are)
