washed my f4i today, and right after the wash, decided for some stupid reason to open my gas tank door.
right when i opened it, i heard the splashing of water as it poured from around the gas tank door into the tank. i guess there must have been a substantial amount just clinging around the door, in the crevice, because it sounded like quite alot pouring in!
what to do now? i dont want to start the bike and risk any damage...
ive heard about heet removing water from gasoline, but it contains isopropyl which i have heard is bad for plastic components... is it safe to use on my bike?
or should i just try to siphon out all the gas and refill the tank?
thanks guys!!

I think there are Alcohol substances that you can add that will disipate the water. Not sure, how much water you have in there. Sounds like it was very little, in which case you could add some 90% Alcohol and run the engine, then refill the tank. The water is heavier than the fuel and will sink to the bottom. The amount you describe doesn't sound bothersome. If the fuel you are using has enough Alcohol substances, the water may dissipate on it's own.
the easiest thing to do is syphon (sp?) out the fuel and water and refill the tank
don't leave it in there for any extended period (like more than a day), the tank could start rusting very very quickly,

Water is heavier than gas therefore just drain, if you can, from the
bottom of the tank until only gas comes out.

are you talking just the water around the top of the tank or like a cup full?
if its just a little there should be no problem.
it'll be fine.
if its like a cup full it might run weird . go fill your tank and ride it.

I agree with this guy. Just fill the tank up to the top and run it. unless you washed your bike with the gas cap open (which based on what you're saying, you didn't), then just run it and it'll be just fine.

Actually almost every gas tank already has water in it. If you ever take a tank and truly empty it into a container, you will see anywhere from a tablespoon to a cup of water in the bottom.
Alcohol or one of the commerical preps mixes with the water and homogenizes it into the gas, so it is burned up.
The water comes from condensation on the inside of the tank. Once the water sinks to the bottom, it does not evaporate out, it stays there.

red line makes a fuel additive that helps this...
