I was just reading an article about cheating in Nascar and saw that Toyota is making their debut in Nascar...
I don't care for Nascar at all, just found it funny that a Japanese manufacturer is getting involved. I hope they kick ass...
I wonder how Billy Bob and Cletus feel about it?...
Badass car though...

Camry may be Toyota's best-selling car in America, but it's not its best-selling vehicle between Louisiana and Maryland, ie. where it counts in Nascar :laughing

Dich Childress has already made complaints that Toyota will put a bunch of money/tech into nascar and dominate the sport. It will be nice to see the american manufactures have to compete. Nascar was their bread and butter that alowed them to keep producing such shitty cars. I think the first place where Toyota will dominate is on the road coarse.

Too bad they can't build a chassis to go with it. :laughing

C'mon now, everybody knows the NASCAR crowd is a forward-thinking, cultured crowd. Just read about the warm reception Toyota received in 2004 when they started racing in NASCAR's Craftsman Truck Series

Dissention rose high enough that Nextel Cup driver Jimmy Spencer was quoted as saying, “Those (SOBs) bombed Pearl Harbor, don’t forget.

I guess it's obvious how the Nascar crowd feels. Here are the results of a poll about it on nascar.com

I don't like it 54842 45%

Yeah. That's exactly like the Camry we can all go down to a dealer and buy right now I'm sure.
Be interesting to see if that Camry even sees the green flag Sunday. Last I read with all the crew chiefs getting caught cheating, suspended, and fined...Waltrip's Camry is under further investigation. Something about having sent a part from his car to NASCAR's offices for inspection.

same thing with ford, chevy, dodge... nascar is the WWF of motorsports
Shouldn't the cars in Nascar represent the ones we see on the road? I don't see a Camry in that pic. Don't see anything on the street that looks like anything in Nascar.

But the bikes at the dealership aren't called the RC211V or M1 or anything like that. They're not trying to make it sound like what we are able to get. And what is stock about stock cars???

I used to be a big NASCAR fan. Growing up, my heroes were Richard Petty, David Pearson, etc. Over the past 10 years, as the popularity grew, my interest faded. Now that all the cars are on the same chassis, and use the same body, I have totally lost interest. In the beginning, it was as much about the car as the driver. That's why manufacturers got into it. Now it's only about entertainment, and corporate $$. Also, rather than being farmers and mechanics, the drivers are all professional corporate spokesmen now, who get paid stupid $$, just like ball players.
Intersting (?) tidbit... Toyota actually had to design, for the first time ever, a pushrod V8 to go racing with. All their F1 experience means almost nothing with NASCAR.
BTW, no one says MotoGP bikes are "stock" bikes. I like visiting dealers and asking to see the rear-drive, V8-engine Montes and Taurus'. You get great expressions from the salesmen!:teeth

Why is the back of the car cut up so high above the rear wheel?

If NASCAR actually was really based on stock cars, I would be much more interested. But since they are about as stock as a Pro-Stock car in drag racing...
Compare that to the R1 John Mcguinness rides at the Isle of Mann...
