Seriously :wtf?
Hockey sticks should have blades on them so they can kill each other for our entertainment like proper gladiators.

Not at all. It's the same thing with baseball players who charge the mound etc etc. Nothing worse than seeing grown men act like like pussy children who can't control their emotions.
I'm all for watching someone fight if the point of the event is fighting. Boxing, UFC etc...but fightin at a hockey game is just bullshit.

You can't be serious? Fighting is a HUGE part of hockey. Hockey is a game of respect. Fighting sets the tone. You take out a team's superstar...you pay the consequences. If fighting wasnt a part of hockey, players engaged in fights would be suspended, etc.

Just dawned on me that its almost impossible to explain hockey and fighting to anyone that hasn't grown up with hockey. So I'll stop here.

Good point !
Those that don't know the game have no idea what and or why there is fighting in Hockey....That's ok though, just maybe it (Hockey) will remain one of the best kept secrets in sports!...
Hockey aint for everyone, thats for sure!
Thanks for the link :teeth :cool

I saw some show once about why fighting exists in hockey, so it makes sense now.
But I am still not interested in that aspect. If I want to watch fights, I will watch UFC. If I want to watch a sport, wait, who am I kidding, I don't want to watch sports anyway :laughing

Hockey fights rock! Totally different experience than going to a fight and seeing an NBA game break out.

There are some things in hockey that can't be explained unless you have played hockey. It truely is a game of respect.
[wierd and almost relevant story] There was a hockey player that stayed at our house for a while from Fort McCloud, AB. We became friends with his family and went up to their place a few times over the years. This was some time in the late '80s
Back in 2004 I was hanging around with a college buddy in Boston and his aunt and uncle who live in Fort McCloud, AB also happened to be in town. I asked him if he knew the Herricks. His responce was, "Sure I know Ciff, we've droped gloves a few times, he's a great guy." :laughing

I miss playing hockey
