what now is his check would be returned cause he filled it out wrong. You could argue that that equasion would be OK in the dollar portion (the box on the right) as I'm sure it is in fact a real number, but the part on the line is supposed to be written out in words. He did the equivelant of writing $48.23 in both sections when the written amount should be fourty eight dollars and 23/100.

He's the dumb-ass bitch.

He should've written

"point zero zero two plus e to the i-pi plus the sum of 1/2^n where n is one to infinity."

the summation looks like is approaches 1, the part I can't figure out is the "i". isn't that supposed to be the square root of -1, an imaginary number?

math genius comment required.

I guess he's paying with imaginary money :p

Y'all giving me PTSD - brings me back to my first semester in college when I took Calculus, Physics, and Chemistry ( plus some other GE courses) at the same time.

I had to brush up some of that rusty math
yeah, i dont understand it's basically

$0.002 - $1 + $1 = $0.002

it would have been better if it was the actual amount he owes, who knows maybe they would have tried to cash it.

That's what I got too. Maybe that is the minimum that he can pay for his bill in one month?

you have to read the context to this:

http://verizonmath.blogspot.com/2006/12/verizon-doesnt-know-dollars-from-cents.html

this check is for the download of 1KB of data through the verizon phone network.

and, since the customer service rep of verizon cant tell the difference between one dollar and one cent.... this is highly appropriate.

That stuff is brilliant, the phone company is the dope here. I was amazed (but then again, I'm pretty easily amazed).

it always amaze3s me how easily people are confused by "orders of magnitude".

obviously $0.02 and 2 cent are a totaly different beast to most people.

hell, how are THOSE SAME PEOPLE allowed to vote for government bills and spendings in the billions.

bah, billions, millions schmillions. what's a $1.5 trillion war compared to a 50.000 school library? or a 150million hospital.
ah, who cares, all the same.

things like this verizon employee make me wonder if "voting" realy should be a right or a privilege which people have to earn??
