The ACTUAL first dirt day was a bad day - I let her ride my CR125, which was a no-no for the first time dirt go'er. And then, my mistake was going on a blue trail for her first run :laughing - I got a map after that to be SURE I was on the green trails. IMO, she could've done the blue trails at the end of the day if it weren't for her arm pump and over-all tiredness!

Last week I picked up a MUCH more tame XR100 and we hit up Hollister this past Saturday. Looks like we have a new riding venue!

Dirty, dirty girl!!11!!!!

We rode for a good 4-5 hours. For myself, I am starting to love my CR125 more and more, and really test the limits of the 2-stroke (ahhhh fack!). I installed a flywheel weight which made a world of difference. I had a blast on the TT track (SuperMoto riding transferred AWESOME on that track) and I almost looped a jump on the MX track :laughing.

Most importantly, however, is I got my GF to ride dirt, finally. I am hoping this new skill set will improve her overall bike handling skill, which it has done for me. Dirt riding and SuperMoto has improved my OWN bike skills more than anything I've done: but next is American Supercamp. And re-taking up dirt two years ago has been a great investment for myself, as we both are convinced the XR100 purchase was, as well.

Hope to see some of you out there!

Riding in dirt was like learning to ride all over again. I felt like such a dorky newbie - - - especially when I was trying to kick-start the bike and the water truck drenched me as it passed. Of course, this happened in front of a lot of people who laughed at me :laughing ... I felt like such a dork :nerd

Good times!!

+1 the dirt is a great place to learn and to get out the squidly behavior. It must have been pretty warm yesterday, that drenching must have felt good.

Dirt is a lot of fun. Albeit, I don't go very often at all, but have had a blast every time. You should consider attending American Supercamp...it's a TON of frickin' fun and it does teach great techniques for sliding. :cool Kick-starting can be the suck sometimes...imo...but I'm spoiled on electric starts.

I tried to tell that thick headed boyfriend of hers they'd love it but he got all stuck up on me. :x

Not only will you not look like a noob, you'll be amazed at how much you progress in two days.

You're going in a straight line, there's not much body positioning involved anyway - you can exhaust too much energy keeping your elbows up all the time.

That looks like a lot of fun! :applause

Eff uuuuuuu Mr IRS! The tax man took my pickup truck money from me. :( I really want to join you guys out there, especially on the TT track, but it'll be a while now. I can't wait to get on the dirt though. Supercamp was such an awesome introduction to it.

D & Kelly, if you guys can swing it, definitely check out September or February's Supercamp. It really helped with my supermoto riding and it was ridiculous fun. I'm hoping to head back in February.
