View Full Version : My new 1-piece leather suit!

So...I bought this suit a few weeks back and I'm just now getting around to breaking it in. So far I'm very happy with the fit...such a hard thing to find with women's gear (especially when your as petite as me) and the feminine look is a bonus. I had initially thought of having a custom suit made, but I want to be positive of the look and design before I drop that much money. My first trackday is April 7 at T-Hill and I have four more days scheduled (and counting). Stoked to be getting out on the track this year! BTW - My camera is the suck (time to upgrade)...so I'm having a hard time getting some nice pics of the suit.

Do you think the Yu will fit 5'11", 135? Or will the knee sliders be in the middle of my thighs?

Congrats on the suit Correne, can't wait to see you at the track.

Not too sure about the fit. I'm 5'1" ('ish) and about 115lbs...the suit has a couple baggy areas, but not too bad overall...a little in the leg area, but not that much. I bought the smallest size which is 30/40. I would still suggest going and trying one of for the hell of it...never hurts.

Hey--I just tried it on last weekend. I was told that a rrrrreally small gal bought the smallest sized one a little while back from the salesperson. That must have been you! I like the suit too--fantastic fit. (I'm a little taller and could use a couple of twinkies.) By far the most comfortable one-piece I've ever tried on. I put on the 30/40 as well. It looked painted on, so I could probably go up a size.

Looks great on you! I tried on the white, but the black is much better.

You know, the more I look at that suit, the more I really like it. Looks great!
And it's not just for the track. The reflective piping makes it a great street suit too for those long weekend rides.
ok so where can I try one on?

And the custom-fit ones aren't much more ($1400+ at Zooni or ZCustom) for those harder-to-fit gals out there... :cool

OR... you can get this one and get some alterations where needed for that 'custom' fit. ;)

I have to say though...I thought the same thing as DH when I was reading the different group break-outs. Still...sounds like fun.

Good question Correne!

We're almost ready to post details about our Women's VIP Day on June 26th so stay tuned. But to answer your question, there are a few reasons we are going with this configuration:

1. Women are the fastest growing segment in motorcycling and you are waaaaay under-represented at track days. There are a bunch of women out there who have never been to a track day because they either don't know they exist, think they are too expensive, don't think they're "good enough", and, yes, are intimidated by the thought of riding with squidly racer-boys on the track. We're hoping to get those street riders on the track for the first time in as un-intimidating an environment as possible.

2. All women who come to the event on June 26th will be "VIPs" for the day. So even you track veterans who sign up for the Intermediate or Advanced group will get to ride in the All Women's Group too! Ride at your fast pace in whatever group you want, and then come and enjoy the camaraderie with the other women! Act like a Z² Season Pass Holder all day.

3. Speaking of our most excellent Season Pass Holders, Z² always has a commitment to them to ride in two groups at every one of our events. Nearly all of our Season Pass Holders ride in both Advanced and Intermediate groups so it was important to keep those groups available to them.

Again...lots more details soon. We're working on some great sponsors, special programs, and even some surprises so sign up now.

You're not the only one who feels that way, Alayna. In fact, one of the biggest gripes about FemMoto was the COMPLETE lack of men. So, we're trying to find the happy medium. The only place men won't be allowed during that day is on track during the women's group. Any women who come to that event should feel free to bring their Pit Boys and Umbrella Men. Plus, men (and women) are free to sign up for the other two groups.

You know, I don't get the appeal either, but I've always tended to get along better with men than with women. Most women who ride these days I think are of a similar personality type, just based on what I've seen. But as motorcycing gains appeal among women, which I'm totally in support of, I think there are going to be more and more women who aren't as into hanging out with dudes all day long. It's pretty intimidating to chicks not as ballsy as we are to get out there on a track with a bunch of guys, so all girl track sessions and rides I think are important. That doesn't mean that I get them...but I think I get that they're probably a good thing. ;)

Dbenj - I applaud your efforts to include more women at the track. I wasn't trying to belittle that. Good on you guys for going the extra mile for us! :cool

...And getting back on topic, I think it's pretty cool that a woman feels confident enough in her skin and her abilities to post up her photo in motorcycle gear on a motorcycle forum. Most of the time you think of motos and chicks, you see a woman in a bikini standing next to a bike she can't ride. If you're truly into bikes and truly respectful of the "fairer sex" nothing's sexier than a capable woman in leathers operating one of these machines well--that means you r6diva. ;)

[i]If you're truly into bikes and truly respectful of the "fairer sex" nothing's sexier than a capable woman in leathers operating one of these machines well--that means you r6diva. ;)

I couldn't agree more. That's why I married one! Well, one of many reasons anyway. :laughing By the way, she just got a new S2R 1000. That bike rocks.

To Correne - I love the new suit, but the most important thing about your new suit is that YOU love it. If you feel comfortable and safe in your stitches, that's really what counts. The designs are rad, and I'm stoked you're going to put the suit to good use on the track. I'm sure myself and the other girls from Curve Unit will see you out there. :teeth

To Charlotte - You look great in your suit also. Can't wait to see you soon so we can talk more about R4K. :shhh

To David - Truthfully, I don't give a rip what Z2 wants to call the all-women group. You guys could title it the Estrogen Crew or Shoe-shopping-aholics-Annonymous for sake of argument and I would still show up. :thumbup It's a trackday nonetheless, no matter how you look at it. Plus, I absolutely love Kathy and have mad respect for her. I'm sure she'll put together a killer day for the ladies!

See you April 8 @ Infineon, May 28 @ T-hill, and of course June 26 @ T-hill with the rest of Curve Unit. We're all rolling out for this, so lids off to Z2 for putting it together!:ride

nice suit!

It is hard to find ready-made suits that fit female figure properly... we had a hard time finding a suit that fit my wife well.

It looks good, and it has those reflective stripes for night riding (black suit needs it the most.)

:thumbup and thanks for sharing.

Wow I missed out on all the fun with this thread.....

Suit looks really cool. R6Diva wears it really well. Amazing it was off the rack. I need to rob a bank or something and get myself a one piece...

As for the all girl track days...I can see why they have them, and its cool....but I'm glad they are an option and not a necessity around here.

r6diva - Got a tip for GOOD pics. Cameras go ape shit over the reflective surfaces. Stand in a bright area, set the camera to no flash, and shoot away!

Works most of the times, and doesnt panic the camera with over exposure compensation.

That suit looks great on you! How did it do for your trackday? The reflective piping is a nice touch for street riding, particularly.

I'm about to sign up for the Z2 women's trackday. Still, I get what several of you are saying about preferring a co-ed environment. Since it'll be my first trackday, though, I'd like to feel a little more "among my kind" and less of the need to be a bit on guard around the guys there.

I do have the luxury of getting on pretty well with both women and men--and since I'm a dyke, women tend not to express that occasional, unconcious impulse a few straight women have to see other women as competition. (I think that's the phenomenon of the "hater" that Christie mentioned).

This thread itself is proof that while the majority of rider guys are have no problem accepting a woman as a peer, some clearly get blinded by attraction or insecurity. It takes energy to deal with that--and it's energy I'd rather devote to learning. For future track days, I'll likely go co-ed, but I appreciate the opportunity Z2 has set up.

I don't know why I'm doing this to myself - it's kinda like shooting myself in the foot but...

Get over it - men and women, women and women, men and men - whatever...we're all on this Earth for a very short time. Stop worrying about who wants to touch you where your bathing suit covers and just live.

95% of it is in your head.

So far, guys I've met have been pretty gender blind and very respectful to me when I'm at the track, very little leghumping and whatnot, FWIW. But I'm glad you'll be coming to the Z2 day and love hearing there's women coming who might not ordinarily have been that psyched about a regular day on track. Though not yet a track rider myself alot of my friends are diehard track riders and racers. In general they are a much more mature and down to earth crowd than the average street sportbike rider. It takes a certain level of psychological, physical, and financial commitment to involve yourself with the track or racing consistently and those traits are ususlly lacking in those who seem to be generally disrespectful, and lack decent ethical standards when in public situations (like our guy Stunna up there). Not that those kinds of guys don't make their way to the track occasionally but I'd say those kinds of personalities are only there for bragging rights and one wouldn't see them around very long anyway. Personally as much as I like a to hand out a good leghumping if I was going to be racing a 100+hp 300+lb missile around a track at triple digit speeds the last thing I'd be hyper focusing on is what technique I was gonna use to get into some girls pants :2cents :teeth

Excellent! Glad to hear you are coming to our women's event as your first track day.

I know the opinions about our women's event are as varied as the personalities on BARF. However, I hope everyone can get past the leghumping jokes and see the event for what it is: a way to get more women riders on the track in a comfortable, low-stress environment.

Z² have been doing track days for years. We have seen every type of track rider and this event is a way for us to cater to one specific group. Do all women track riders want only all women riders all the time? Obviously not...that's why we don't have these events every time. Considering the momentum this event is gaining (the Women's group is selling quite a bit faster than the other two), there are at least some riders that respond to this configuration and you can probably bet on seeing more like this in the future.

Hope to see y'all there.

Christie--sorry to misattribute a quote to you! It was Alayna, who said this:

"PS... I dont get the appeal of all girl rides, all girl track day groups, all girl motoclubs blah blah blah. There's always gonna be at least one hater and a handful being fake and overly nice or complimentry to you.. Eff that! Unless its with my closest girl friends.. Co-ed is the way to go!"

Brought back from the dead (this thread, that is...)

For those that asked...my first trackday was awesome! I can't wait for the next one. I learned a lot and yet have a lot to learn...very exciting indeed. I was a bit nervous at first, but shook the butterflies fairly quick after doing a few laps. Or maybe I just forgot I was nervous because I was concentrating on what I was doing...relaxing my body, moving on the bike, looking through the turns, etc, etc.

The suit is awesome...it was a very easy break-in period. That's one of the things I've always liked about Dainese leathers...they are very soft to begin with. I actually really enjoy wearing the suit on the street too...some people make comments about the 1-piece being such a pain, but it honestly does not bother me one bit. I'm definitely stoked with the purchase...no buyer's remorse here!
