First off , save your :newbie 's i'm not a new member. :twofinger
I have a weird question regarding the laws surrounding ownership of a vehicle that was mutually purchased by two people.
Basically I bought a car with a soon to be ex-friend.(i'll explain later) We both paid the same amount and before I put money down agreed I would be the primary driver of the car. I take possession of the car but he goes and registers it in his name. (which I never agreed to) I paid to get the car repaired and smogged as well as all of the general repairs etc. I daily drive the car and it is my currently my primary mode of transportation. Basically I have have more money into the car then he does period. I can prove this with receipts.
I intend to cease communications with this individual after a recent quarrel we had. I am going to propose to buy out what he put into the car(which isn't shit) and take over the car completely. Of course to be defensive I seriously doubt hes going to just hand over the title without argument. I know he cannot buy me out for the car , he does not have the money or could gather it within any reasonable amount of time. What are the laws regarding something like this. How should I go about approaching this situation? I don't want to just jump into this blindly.
