Anyone have an idea of what a fair price for a 2005 R6 Raven should be? Stock bike, clean title, never down and 5,000 miles, stock tires. Looking to get one but the prices ranging from $7000 all the way to $8200. Just looking for some guidance for what owners have paid for theirs. Thanks.

If you mean *black*, then I would say around the 6000 mark.. Nothing more..

why is it that every R6 sold is labeled 'Raven' or 'special edition' or 'limited edition' :twofinger

Cause dat must mean its betta! :p Or that means they want to justify trying to sell a common commodity for an uncommon price.

Guess I really pissed him off, he is asking $8000 firm, called to offer $6300 cash today. Click. A few minutes later an angry email that I wasted his time. No way it can worth that much.

hahha, since there're so many damn newbs with so much money lying around, the price for used bikes are rocketing all the way to the roof right now. salvage titled bikes are going for 5-6k.

I am pretty in tune with current used private party sprotbile pricing, and I find R6's to be the most outrageously priced bikes out in the used market.

Here is my theory:

1. Newb passes MSF, with dreams of revving his new R6 at the local bux.

2. Goes down to the dealer, and plunks down MSRP,tax,title,un-crate feel, tire disposal fee, full gas tank fee, paint protection fee, armour all on tires fee, etc... and puts the whole shebang on his credit card.

3. After a few drops on the driveway, the weather turns cold, and said 'biker' decides to sell this "LIMITED EDITION, RAVEN WITH FLAMES AND PURPOSELY PLACED PRODUCT STICKERS" to the tune of $1000 off a brand new bike discount.. Obviously, his bike is not BLACK; it's, RAVEN, and that is as highly coveted, as the holy grail itself.

4. Posts ad on craigslist, selling his "baby" with one tear drop coming down his cheek, and thinking he'll be fighting off offers of $8K.

Example CL post:

2005 RAVEN LIMITED EDITION, ONLY 10,000 in CA US EDITION YAMAHA R6 (RSEXXYY!!!)

CUSTOM UNDERTAIL, CUSTOM MODIFIED BLINKERS, SHORTY PIPE (sounds AMAAAZING, JUS LIKE MOTOAMAGP!!!11!!1!) ORIGNAL TIRES WITH PLENTY OF TREAD ON DA SIDEZZ. very minor driveway drop when moving da bike. bank ownz title, will GIVE da bike away for $8K cash or TAKEOVER PAYMENTS (JUST $99/month for ten quick years.. SeLLING TO UPGRADE TO GSXR1CBRR1K. Already can outride the bike. DID I SAY LIMITED SPECIAL EDITION!???

Dont forget about the flush mounts and the Yosh pipe. Everyone knows flush mounts equal more $$$ and add 10 hp.

Have to agree with you Stan. The R6's on CL and other private sellers are outrageously expensive and only one person I talked to would negotiate. I can't fathom someone paying that much for a used R6.

I'll let you in on a little secret.. shhh.....

You can find fairly good deals on used R6's if you look for tracked out R6 bikes.

They are usually purchased and used by 'riders' and most of them need little work to get them back into street condition..

A street fairing panel here and there.. A headlight, etc.. and you got yourself a well taken care of late model/low mileage bike.

Not to long ago my friend let go of his super tricked out, clean tittle Raven R6 (ohlins damper, SS brake lines, Racefit Growler exhaust :wow, Sato rear sets, Pazzo Shorties) for a crazy low of 5.8K!! Im still kicking myself for being broke back then... if he still had it today i would be all over it.

Yes, nowadays people on craigslist are on crack and think their "extra low" miles bike should be equal in price (sometimes higher) than MSRP, just be patient and you'll find something good.

Stan, as for the reason people call the black R6 Raven is because that is the name Yamaha used for it, hence people calling it that way... kinda like kawi green, instead of lime green

Buy my new 07 with 0 miles for 8400.00!!

Thats a huge savings, and only a little more than a 2 year old used one.

PM if interested, it will be gone soon.

silverbelt.. be glad you didn't buy that bike for 6200. IMO that is too much money that you offered him. Be a bit patient & you will find yourself a great deal.. Look for stock bikes with lower miles.. there are many out there.. check craigslist in sacramento & other areas nearby bay area..

Craigslist seems to have some crazy high prices. I wouldnt pay anymore than $6k for a 05 R6. Keep shopping around and dont be set on just one color choice. I scored a blinged out 05 raven R6 for $5800 this winter and to tell you the truth I would rather have the blue paint scheme. Black is a real bitch to keep clean. After a full day on the bike its covered in bug juice and dust that just looks like shit till I give it a good bath. My blue sv650s seemed to hide its dirtyness better....

No used R6 is worth $8k. Why not look at other 600's?

Just for the hell of it, I'll bring this thread back. I got mine for $6.3k, clean with 4k miles and a bunch of extras (Pilots, etc).

Like the OP, I found that late model "ravens" for under $7k were few and far between. CL is definitely overpriced, but I think the popularity of the R6, especially in black, makes the problem much worse. Also, the people most likely to post in this thread are ones that think they got a good deal (not saying that I did, especially after hearing some of the other prices here).

IMO you could do just as well with an '03 as an '05, since both bikes are 2nd gen: my friend just found a 2003 "limited edition" "Raven" (let's see how many bankable words we can tack on there, right?) for ~$4.5k.

Anyway, curious what other people are getting these days for a black R6 (especially '05).

You're right. I bought this one for 6k put another 6k into it, but I know better and only ask what is fair. Please check it out and pass the word.
Thanks
