What is the definition or "perception" of a unsafe lane change? And what could the fine be?

The infraction is a 21658 (a).. Is this beatable in court? As motorcycles don't we have the right ( OK! permission) to stradle a lane during traffic? Any help will be greatly appreciated

1. Here's the definition or exact wording:
"21658. Whenever any roadway has been divided into two or more
clearly marked lanes for traffic in one direction, the following
rules apply:
(a) A vehicle shall be driven as nearly as practical entirely
within a single lane and shall not be moved from the lane until such
movement can be made with reasonable safety."
2. I'm unaware of any exemption for motorcycles regarding the, above, VC section. Conversely, if it's any comfort, an automobile driver probably would have been cited for the same thing for which you were presumably accused of doing.

And motorcycles don't have more rights that cars; they have to follow all the same rules. They just can take advantage of some of the laws due to their size that cars cannot. And lane straddling is illegal, car or motorcycle. Lane sharing, in the same lane, can be legal when done safely.
