How much is a ticket for riding your motorcycle without a license plate? My friend rides around without one. Hasn't taken time to put one on. She figures if the police pull her over, she'll just pull out the plate from her backpack.

That's a $10 fix it ticket or $100+ fine.

c'mon now, we all know what a chore it is to put a license plate on...what with all the vacation or sick time she'd have to take from work...it's just not worth it.

that's just plain lazy. is it even worth posting about? maybe it's about time she learns how much it'll cost on her own

She could always take it to the shop and have them do it for her if she's not mechanically inclined. :)

Unless it's a new bike with a dealer tag, a vehicle not displaying a licence plate raises suspision with the police.

Stolen?
Unregistered?

5200 CVC would be the applicable fix-it ticket.
OTOH
24002(b) CVC would be the applicable moving violation... and is a 1 point violation.

If someone pulled their plate out of their backpack and it was still sealed in the envelope and postmarked within the past week, I might let it slide. If I ran it out and they had it for weeks... I'd write them fo' sho'. :thumbup

Unregistered? yeah, there's a newish sixxer that I sometimes see that has a dealer tag, but is also somewhat rashed up and has a cage on it. i keep wondering if i can write down the VIN and check to see if it's stolen, but haven't had a pencil and paper on me when i passed it yet (and haven't thought of using my phone before now)
