With the exception of one session on Sunday, we will be alternating East and West tracks. There will be 3, 3 hour sessions for each of the four days we will be out there. Each 3 hour session will be split into 1/2 hour sessions where novice/street riders will be on one track and advance/race riders will be on the other track. After each 1/2 hour session, the tracks will switch so everyone has an opportunity to ride all track configurations. We like to separate the riders to ensure the beginner riders don't feel like they are in over their heads with people zooming by, and so that the advanced riders can go at their quicker pace and not worry about less experienced riders on the track. We want to create a safe, fun environment for every level and for every person.

On Sunday, second session, the entire full track will be ridden, not the one the AMA guys ride, but the entire perimeter.

Last year, what would you estimate the average number of bikes on track each 1/2 hr in the advance/race riders' group? Just trying to get a feel on how many bikes on course during the day and whether it would impact times. Thinking of coming out to train for the WERA endurance that's there in June. Also, can you give some insight on how the crashes are handled?

Thanks!

Chris

I am in the process of signing up for the online package for $500 for every regular session. I am guessing that the Sunday Full Track 12:30-3:30 is not a regular session. Is that why it's $580 if you sign up for everything.

Yup... that's correct... the Sunday Full Track session is not a regular session and does cost a tiny bit more :)

I would estimate that there were anywhere between 40 and 70 each session of the advance/race riders group. But, even with 70 riders on the track at one time, you can still pass safely and have parts of the track with maybe one or two other riders with you... just due to the nice size of the track. Sunday, by far, is the least busiest day just because many people are traveling home that day.

Fortunately, we will have more cornerworkers on the track this time around so crashes will be handled quicker than in the past. Last year, there were only 4 incidents the entire event and no one was injured. Depending on the severity of the crash, the whole track will be red flagged while our track vehicle goes out to help the rider and load the bike. Safety is of the utmost concern for us and we want to make sure that the track is clean and clear before we let everyone go back out onto the track.

If we have to red flag the track, we realize this cuts into riding time, and we try to extend the later sessions to provide everyone to get all the time they paid for.

Great questions! :) Let me know if you have anymore!

Christine
