Sorry if this is a repost, or even if its the correct place to post...

The other day in Castro Valley, I thought I saw a Honda CBR CHP Hybrid!!

Can anyone confirm, post pictures, tell me that I'm not seeing things.

I should've been more clear. It was definately a Motorcylce, and definately a Honda. All white.

Cops that I've talked to don't like it. Gets to hot to ride around Yakville in the Summer.

Imagine riding around for 8-10 hours on a sportbile, then having to run after a suspect. After you pick yourself off the ground, cause your knees are so sore; you draw your weapon, but your wrist is to sore to aim proper.

If you want go for test run; I'll take you on a 6-8 hour ride then a mile or two run after. Just see how much fun it would be.

Not to mention having to transport radio, posse box, radar gun etc. Having to crouch for extended periods with a vest on wouldnt be much fun either. A larger bike with a more upright seating postition also projects a more formal appearance and increases their field of vision and the ability of drivers to see them. Besides, we take lights off of sport bikes, we dont add more to them :teeth A highway patrol agency did convert a siezed hayabusa, but that seemed more like a publicity/ PR move than a sign of changing up the fleet.

Becuase riding a sprotbile for 8-10 hours could make the motor officers more irratable than they already are :p

Back on topic:

The St1300P heat issues: I heard that Honda is claiming its a break-in issue that they run hot during for the first few thousand miles. Similar issue with the VFRs.

A few agencies in the East Bay are demoing the bikes: They do look sharp; but if they are not comfortable to ride, that negates the looks.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol uses Hayabusas.

I wouldn't want to be riding a sportbike 8hrs a day, 5 days a week. Now, the FJR on the other hand........... :thumbup

I wish they would let me outfit the Tuono. Now that would be a fun police bike :)

Most CHP could outride anyone on a sportbike anyway, so why make them uncomfortable and deprive them off all the donut storage space?

Concord PD and a few other local agencies have all bought the Honda's now. It is a much cheaper, more reliable alternative to the BMW. Our sister agency in LA has a full set of them too. They ride VERY nice.

I rode a Honda CB750 police special when I was in Iraq! We bought it for $500, i did the maintenance and repairs for my platoon leader and payback was getting some seat time!
