Can I get into any trouble by posting these pictures of this lowlife piece of shit?

Until you find out he has a history of previous convictions for theft, you can't really call him a thief. So you might want to obscure his face and vehicle license plate.

But we all know he was up to No Good. 'Cuz he ran like a thief who'd been caught in the act.

Still he was potentially a burglar. You caught him before he broke the lock on your trailer. I know it's a disgusting thought but maybe next time you could like let the jerk break the lock and then take his picture?

If the PPD ask him, he'll probably say he was checking out a trailer that was listed for sale on Craigslist. And then some mad man ran out and he drove off scared.

The scumbag was arrested last night after apparently committing several burglaries in and around Petaluma. He was on parole. The car belonged to a female, maybe his crackhoe. :loser

I'll put the pictures back up after I get the OK from the detective.

I honestly don't know how you officers deal with the stresses involved with the job you have. The adrenaline rush was fucking incredible. After confronting that asshole, my heart was going 17,000rpms and it took a while to chill out. I can't imagine doing that on a day to day basis, not ever really knowing what was going to happen next.

The first 2-5 seconds is... "This dipshit isn't doing what I think he is doing". The control of the adrenaline comes with age and experience.

So were your hands trembling so much that you couldn't fill out a statement. I have dealt with victims who shake so violently that when they try to write a statement it looks like chicken scratch.

I hope you never have to do this again. But, If I were to run out to confront the scumbag, I'd have my .45 in my right hand, with a round in the chamber and safety off. You never know what the scumbag is up to, and whether he is packing a firearm or not.

We should all look him up in LEADS and see if he frequents our areas.

Thieves are notorious for committing huge numbers of crimes until they get caught. We found carloads of 496 stuff...tied to dozens of 459s over several weeks. Always fun to start calling victims to return property!

"The sheriff's department arrested the suspect, 41-year-old Frederick Harold Eberhardt, of Santa Rosa, at his girlfriend's Boyes Hot Springs residence at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, sheriff's Sgt. Greg Stashyn said.

Petaluma police compared the photos of the suspect taken at the Petaluma attempted vehicle burglary with photos of the Kenwood burglary suspect that were sent by the sheriff's department, Savano said.

Eberhardt was booked into the Sonoma County jail for the Kenwood burglary and the attempted Petaluma burglary and for a parole hold. He is being held with out bail, Savano said."

Nice job Alan. These are the great things that can be accomplished when the community gets involved. We need more people to do what you did and step up to the plate.

Major kudos to you sir.

Correction: The DA's office just called. He is in jail for 3 years, not 2. He starts out with 90 days in San Quentin.

As far as getting reimbursed for my damaged lock, it doesn't look good.

The lock was one of a set with the same key, so it's not cheap to replace. Too many keys are just a pain in the ass.

Why should you offer to replace what this lowlife piece of shit damaged?

Yeah, if the guy had assaulted you, you could have been compensated: http://www.cdcr.ca.gov/Victims/Helping_Crime_Victims.html. Since it's a property crime, I think -- but am not certain -- that your lone recourse is to sue him in Small Claims Court and then get a judgment against him. Which you can renew.

Yea, just want I want to do...piss off (more) the felon I helped put behind bars (that will be out very shortly) over a $20 lock!

Small claims it is!

Getting locks keyed the same isn't hard...you could probably buy a 10 pack at CostCo. :p

Why can't you get him to pay for the lock through restitution?

Probably because a crime victim also has to be a victim of violence:

RESTITUTION FINES

Restitution fines are paid to the Victim Compensation and Government Claims Board (VCGCB), Victims Restitution Fund. The VCGCB, Victims of Crime Program is the state agency responsible for administering the Victims Restitution Fund. The restitution fund is for victims of violent crimes who suffer out-of-pocket losses and who may be eligible to apply for financial reimbursement. The fund reimburses eligible victims for lost wages or support, medical or psychological counseling expenses and other related costs. For further information, please contact theVCGCB 1-800-777-9229.

While incarcerated, inmates with court ordered restitution fines have a specified percentage deducted from their wages and other trust account deposits for these fines.

California Law (Penal Code Section 2085.5); (Penal Code Section 11177.2)

-------

After I was assaulted, the local D.A.'s office notified me that if I applied, I could be (and was) reimbursed for lost wages and medical expenses. I even testified and was cross-examined by the defendant's attorney in court. Quite an experience. And all due to a parking spot and a crazy neighbor with a metal mallet in her hand, an axe at her front door and a baseball bat in her car. Lucky for me she chose the mallet.

They said it requires the criminal making an appearance in front of a judge who will hear the restitution motion. They said the costs involved (transporting him, feeding him, security, etc) are not worth it to them for a $100 lockset.

Oh, well. At least this asshole is behind bars.

$100 lock set. Fine, i'll pitch in $20. Find more people to make up the diff and your set. ;)
