The truck is a standard bed 1990 toyota. didn't come with anything, no radio, no lighter, no air conditioner. I paid $7025 OTD. Haha

congrats!
my 89 landcruiser is at 205k, i have only had it since 193k though.
maintenance and ignoring the "you have to have a new vehicle" do far more for the environment than hybrids

My Xterra is at 105,000 in 6 years. I just sold my 1986.5 Nissan Pickup with 217,000. It was still going strong, too!

i had a major tune-up at 90k, but didn't specifically mention the belt... it's a 99...
(time passes)
i just called my service spot, they said that honda's recommended change is at 105K... ...i asked if there's any specific reason to be concerned about it, and they said "due to the engine makeup, if the belt snaps your engine is f'd"... :| apparently opening the engine just to look at is 3/4 of the job anyway...
what's the word mackey, i'll take your word for it if you say it needs to be done asap. have you had experience with this specific problem? or is it just not worth the risk waiting till the 105K mark? i'm SCURRED NOW.

well, i'm going on 310K in my '89 bronco.
owned it for the last 60K.
it's on the 2nd transmission, and the engine supposedly was rebuilt around 200K

i've heard and seen honda's snap their belts practically on the mark for the belt change. saw a prelude snap the belt w/ <100k on the clock so you don't want to put it off thinking you can extend the mileage.
it's just about time so get it done before you need a new head. dunno if you do regular 3k/3mo. oil change intervals but i'd have the shop do a belt change when it's time for the next oil swap.

My 97 Honda's got 150,000 on it, and still runs well. However, I'm now beginning to spend more money on it as I replace everything a piece at a time. :crying

I've got a 1990 ford ranger that's 125k its elder. Bummer I didn't put all those on myself.

BTW, I ticked over 125k in my last Accord before the first timing belt change. :p

i worked at a repair shop a few years back. we often had those old mercedes turbo diesels come in with over 300k on the clock. i was told that diesel engines are built better because of the combustion process.

The rule that I use: when I start to make what amounts to new car payments on my old car to keep it running, it's time for a new car.
My 2001 Ford F150 just crested 260,000 miles :)
