Depending on the location of the bolt it's sometimes easier to take it to a place that can weld. I've sheered a couple Grade 12 engine mounting bolts before and the simplest solution for me was to limp the bike to a welder I know in Redwood City and have them remove it by welding another piece of metal to the bolt and then simply turning until everything came out nice and clean. Grade 12 all but destroyed my personal bolt extraction tools from Snap-On and Mac (don't even ask me about the stuff from Sears). I guess the main factor is whether or not the bolt is accessible while the bike is still together, or if you'll have to yank the engine/frame to get to it. Give Rob a call, you never know.

Yeah I wish I could do the old weld a nut on the end, but the part that's broken off is inside the engine case. I called Rob, he said he probably wouldn't be able to get to it for a week or so. I already broke off an extractor trying to get it out, so now it's time to take it to a pro before i make it even worse. :laughing

The part that is sticking out is the broken extractor, I have gotten most of it out but there is still a piece of the head stuck inside.

i would try to get all the extractor that broke out first then take a hammer and punch and try to stretch the threads this takes some skill at knowing how hard to hit it that you dont do more damage but hard enough it helps.use a drill that is about .003 to.005 smaller than minor dia. of threads and try a new bolt extractor. the idea is to lessen the presure of threads before useing a bolt extractor that way the easy out does not brake.if you dont drill in center of bolt you will have problems aligning.if you damage threads use a heli-coil.

Are you still having trouble with the bolt!
If so give me me a call.
It isn't that difficult when you have the correct tools
