aiight, as you guys may know, spring is upon us and summer is just around the corner so i decided to do some last minute maintence. I changed the spark plugs (gapped), air filter (uni) and put a little bit of carb cleaner into the carbs. i took a look under the cover where the diaphragm is located. the diaphragm was connected to the cover and carb itself but now it is only on the carb. i didnt think anything of it and went about my way.
Heres the problem: I go to start my bike and it does not start unless i give it throttle but once i let off the throttle, idle drops and dies (tried adjusting idle). Another thing is sputtering. There is also a loud noise on the right side of the engine. Once i get off the throttle, just that split second to change gears, the idle drops to below 1000 and i barely manage to get into gear before it dies (on freeway).
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Take it apart one more time and look for the little o ring missing that seals an air passage in each carb. Get a fiche and look at the carb detail. Also look and see if you got the diaphragm completely back in the groove and if it is torn. Look for hoses disconnected. Look for hoses pinched under the tank when you put it back.

Dump the Uni filter and install a new oem one.

Do you still have the OEM emissions equipment? If no did you take it off yourself? I had a 95 zx6r, and I had a terrible time getting rid of the emissions gear and getting it to run right.
To me it sounds like your vacuum pressure tube isn't connected correctly. There should be a small hose that runs from somewhere on the engine to the gas tank.
That pressurizes tank, and allows fuel to flow into the carbs.
good luck
