So about a month ago, I got bit with the motorcycle bug (probably influenced by some movie), signed up for MSF in Alameda, passed it two weeks later (had a blast!), got my M1 last week, and I've been lurking ever since! Well, no more -- I'm joining you fine people in the forums. I also recently discovered the "mobile" version which would totally kill my productivity at work. :laughing

I've read a LOT on first bikes and I've been looking around, but I promised myself I won't until at least next week after I move, though preferably not until after I sell my condo (good luck with that!). I can't wait to get back on a bike -- I've quickly discovered that I LOVE leaning. The first time swerving through cones at MSF, I totally ran over every cone, but the second or third time around, I found I can get to second gear, and the bike can practically "float" at this lean without falling! Awesome! I can't wait to do it for real...in a parking lot.

I know gear is really important to you guys (and me), so I'm shopping around for gear as well. I dropped by Cycle Gear a few days ago to try on some helmets and I found my head is not as small as I thought...

So anyhow, that's me, and I feel I've yakked long enough for my first post. (btw, that's not why my screen name is "yakking" -- I usually read/listen more than I yak.)

Happy :barfing !!!

Lately I've been digging motostrano for gear, they've got about 10 billion choices, and they're generally way casual about you moping around the retail store for 12 hours trying on every single helmet in the whole place 6 times...

hey, I'm right across the High St bridge, a couple other heads live just up the hill from me. They're fun to ride with, and we put up with noobs, gives us an excuse to go slower and not get speeding tickets. Usually there's a BARF thing Thursday night at Lucky13, watch the social gathering forum. Also, give a PM any time you want... ~ (a)

Thanks RC31x! I never heard of Motostrano, but I'll definitely check them out when I'm down the peninsula. They're a new entry to my growing collection of motorcycle-related bookmarks...

(I'm actually in downtown oakland right now, and moving to Alameda next week.)
