I was heading home for lunch today around 11;30am when I hit some traffic getting off 37 onto Columbus parkway. Rounded the bend there and saw no less than 3 CHP, 3-4 VPD, a tow truck and a VFD truck.
It looked like a single vehicle motorcycle accident that crossed over lanes after he failed to negotiate the offramp from east bound I-80. The driver had already been taken away by the time I drove by, but the bike was still hoisted up by the tow truck. I couldn't tell you what kind of motorcycle it was other than it was a black supersport.
Lesson to be learned: Leave the high speed cornering for the track. Driving way too fast on city streets not only endangers your own life, it endangers those around you. Slow it down, get home in one piece.
Anyone know any more about the accident?

op...I know that making an assumption about the cause of a crash, from just driving by the scene well after it's over, doesn't really make you seem very smart......

Well considering he came well over an embankment across about 20 feet of grass, 2 lanes then hit a wall and left his bike unrecognizable... You'll have to excuse me if my assumptions are more than likely correct. But hey, thanks for contributing to the thread.

how do you know that a car didn't shove him off the road???
what about a mechanical failure?
oil or debris on the road?
the assumption is in the cause of the crash (going too fast) and of course, you just so happened to post your completely unfounded speculation of a scene that you just drove by after the fact, in the "Crash Analysis" forum and most people would agree that it's hard to accurately analyze something you have no direct knowledge of...
but please, do carry on, cause this is barf after all and it's filled with arm chair CSI experts, so you'll fit right in here....
and you're welcome for the thread contribution....just remember, "garbage in, garbage out"

It's kinda ugly:
Major Injuries To Suspect After Pursuit (http://cbs5.com/localwire/localfsnews/bcn/2007/04/19/n/HeadlineNews/MOTORCYCLIST-INJURED/resources_bcn_html)
SOLANO COUNTY -- A Georgetown man suffered major injuries this morning after the motorcycle he was riding crashed into a road sign on eastbound Columbus Parkway off Interstate Highway 80 and hit a car, the California Highway Patrol said.
Officer Craig Kuehl said Stephen McAfee Brocker was flown to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek after the crash around 10:49 a.m.
Kuehl said a CHP officer on a motorcycle pursued Brocker after he drove through the FasTrak lane of the Carquinez Bridge tollbooth at 40 mph. The CHP officer also noticed the real license plate of Brocker's motorcycle was tucked under the rear of the motorcycle and was unreadable.
The CHP officer pursued Brocker onto I-80 for about four minutes until the motorcycle and rider disappeared between Redwood Parkway and Columbus Parkway. Kuehl said Brocker was driving between 120 and 140 mph.
Later the CHP motorcycle officer was responding to a report of an injury accident involving a motorcycle on the Columbus Parkway off-ramp and recognized Brocker's motorcycle as the one he had pursued, Kuehl said.
The driver of a 1996 Mercury was not uninjured, Kuehl said, and the Columbus Parkway off-ramp was closed for about an hour.
Brocker faces a felony charge of evading a peace officer, Kuehl said.

Also, as someone who drives by that off-ramp every day (I go the other direction, towards napa), you'd have to be seriously flying or stupid to not be able to make the turn...
And all because the poor darwin-wannabee wanted a tucked-under liscence plate.
