The motor pooped out entering T8 today in practice, just lost power, shot a gout of oil smoke out the front carb and I saw it, just cut it and pulled off. Great place to watch from the outside of T8, really exciting to see bikes flying through there leaned over and on the gas.

So i was hoping it was a valve and not the crank, drained the oil at home and it was clear, pulled the carb (oily) from the front cylinder and I can see a valve all bent to hell and mashed and broken. Which means head is probably bad ( no big deal) piston too ( no big deal) and hopefully the cylinder is ok and the crank is too. Darn it. And no, I am not staying up all night to pull everything and fix it. Too old for that.

Sorry to hear that. I saw the 199 bike roll by on the truck, and I was bummed for you. don't take this the wrong way but I'm glad it was the engine the blew and not a crash that kept you out.
It's certainly better than the Ducatti that was sharing the ride.

I know it's no consolation whatsoever, and your situation sucks probably more than mine, since you were all psyched and ready to go and then your bike crapped out on you, but I'm really, really sad that I'm not at the races this weekend, but I've known for at least a week and a half that my stupid lame-o retarded back surgery would keep me from being able to go.

Poop! Sorry to hear that Ernie. See you there next month? :)

Fack Ernie :( That sucks.

Are you running a Yoshimura cam by any chance?

Well, now I don't feel TOO bad about not being able to go (just too many domestic obligations to take care of this weekend) cos you were one of the people I wanted to meet.

I have some experience with dropped valves on SV's, if that turns out to be the issue. Lemme know once you pop the head off. Good luck...glad it didn't spit you off too.

Gad dam't Ernie, wish you would've called me before I left from home. If I would have known you were not going to race on sunday I would have just stayed home. Drove 3 f'n hours to be told you popped your engine at practise on sat. :x

I keed, I keed :p

I am sad that I didn't get to see you race.

Ok now for the nice Theresa.... I enjoyed my first time attending a full day of AFM racing. I'l be back with a good set of binoculars. Wish I could have seen you but you made the right call. The freeway for cagers was an absolute mess on Sunday in the Oakland area. I'll just have to hug you twice the next time I see you. :)

Was nice to have finally met you though.

Glad it worked out! It lost power and the only thing I could do was pullover to the left, throw up my hand and hope nobody was right behind me.
Hate that feeling :laughing
