**SOLD**
Why?
I love the bike, I love it a lot, and if you see the bike, you will know..I've put 2K miles on it just in the past month -- I ride it everywhere.. To the city, Oakland, twisties, everywhere and anything. I have zero problems riding this bike on the freeway.. At 80mph, there's still a lot of juice left to pass cars.. I've seen an indicated 100mph with me on it. It's much faster than stock -- that's for sure..
I just saw this tasty little nugget:
http://bayarearidersforum.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=202064
Matter of fact, I almost bought one right before getting my DRZ, but a fellow barfer beat me to it..
Since I have a 1 motard per garage rule, this will go and *hopefully* I can get the 610 to take it's place. If the 610 should sell before I sell this bike - then i'm keeping the DRZ. It's that good.
That said, here I present to you my baby....

And here's the trick part...
Custom painted metallic black. Paint professionally done by our very own Lukky. Super quality and very shiny. Pics don't do this paint job justice.... I get more compliments on this bike than my Ducati!
I am super anal about my bikes, and I take care of them so they can take care of me!
Chain lubed and cleaned after every ride.. Honda polish'ed after every ride..
When I first got the bike, I tore it down and cleaned it from top to bottom. When I installed my rear signals, I did not cut the stock harness, and I soldered the new signals using the original connectors. I made sure everything was soldered and correctly insulated. All wires are zipped-tied clean and tidy. Even though I have LED signals in the rear, I do not have the fast blinker problem. If you see the bike you can tell it was well taken care of. I expected to keep this bike forever (and I might if I don't get the 610!)

I kept the front turn signals stock since I liked the way they look, and they are rubber mounted. They are the '06 signals with white lens and amber bulb inside. Matches the rest of the bike's "look" -- rear signals and tailight are clear, but glow with their correct respective colors.

Very nice bike! Do you know how heavy this bike is?
Also, anything done to suspension? How big of a rider is it set-up for?
Thx

DRZSM's are like 295 dry.
This bike is super clean, Stan and I traded bikes a (week ago between stoplights) for a few miles, this thing runs beautifully!
Should be a quick sale.
Congrats on the new 610 Stan!:teeth

suspension is stock and dialed for a 170lb rider. The rear shock is pretty nice... has seperate hi/lo rebound adjustments.
My bike is quite a bit lighter than stock. Has all smog stuff removed, and the Clarke tank is plastic. (however it does hold quite a bit more fuel. The exhaust is a lot lifgter as well.
okay, fine, i'll throw in an 8-pack of crayons! please please please!!?

hahaha! i borrowed a buddy's KTM duke for 3 weeks before. i seriously don't ever want to own an SM unless it's for track use only. i have no self control.

My mistake, not 42, 41.31.
But probably down a bit more horespower, since the pipe dyno'ed was the Yoshi full system.
But....
I hear that the motor is like wine.
Gets better with time :cool

Funny, that's the reason some other people say they only ride sm or dirt.

OMG this bike is fun! :wow
Really nimble in the twisties and i am not as tempted to break the law in the straigter sections! (altho i did see 100 indicated on the freeway section going back home! :teeth)
I will have to learn a lot about a proper way of riding the SM, but so far i am enjoying it a lot. Could not stop grining all the way back or even now hehe!
Thanks a lot Stan for working with me to get this done, i really appreciate it. Hopefully we will get a chance to go for a ride together sometime and you can show me the proper way to ride this thing!
Cheers

Glad you made it back! I told you the bike is fun :blush It's only gonna get more fun - trust me on this. Your other bikes will sit on the battery tender now..
Easiest transaction ever! We'll definitely go riding.

Stan, how about a rider's comparison review of the 2 SMs?
hey stan...i didn't wanna tell you at first.. but i was the one that devirginitized the footpegs on that husky you now own doing a blast up and down the front side of 84. :teeth

Devin- i'll note my comparisons after more riding and after setting up the suspension to my weight. So far, the bike is much more raw than the DRZ. :wow
Joe- I was told the bike was never flogged hard! :-)
Stan, :thumbup to your upgrade.
People, it is bad form to keep bumping a for sale thread after the bike has been sold. It keeps pushing the other for sale ads down.
Lets start a new thread in General section for these discussions.

Sorry, just one more bump...
I'm glad that another Barfer has taken posession of my black beauty. The blinkers blink normal because I added the EL-12 relay to it. The bike has a 142.5 main since I jetted it before the SM specific kit came out. You may even be able to squeeze a bit more out of it by adding a 155 main jet...
Enjoy the rides Stan and Dar...:cool
