I put on a new chain and sprockets and was wondering if the master link rivets are supposed to stick out like this? I have the chain tool and used it to connect the link (rivet type). When I pressed the plates together, the tool I used didn't press up against the plate completely flush (face of master link plate to face of plate press) Maybe a gap of 1/64". I measured the rivet lengths and they are both the same distance. Now, I didn't take it slow when I pressed them together. I just Lined them up and and started pressing. (I read to take it slow after the fact :blush) So, does this look correct? This is my first chain install, mind you.:nerd

You pushed the masterlink pins out the back.

Do it again.

Do I start with a brand new master link, or can I use the same one? I already "flared" the other side of the link.

I would start with a new.. I saw a variety of master links at Fremont Honda/Kawi. I just changed my chain out this last weekend as well. Good luck bro.
