Curious if you can change JUST the spring with the forks on the bike? These would be for the showas on my ducati.
This is obviously assuming you have the front of the bike off the ground using a stand under the triple and this is ONLY to change the springs. Thanks!
of course.
remove the cartridge, change the springs, reinstall the cartridge.
they are called cartridge forks for a reason.

I thought that springs fit on top of the cartridge. It wouldn't be necessary to remove the cart to get to the springs would it?

If there is a rebound adjustment screw on the fork cap, chances are you'll have to drain the forks, remove the damper rod bolt at the bottom and then use a spring compressor to change fork springs.

As Alan said, chances are you will have to compress the spring to get the caps off. Every now and then no, but bascially figure on doing it off the bike.

If you've never done it before or don't have the service manual and tools, I recommend having a shop do it. It can get complex.

what mess?
you just pull spring slowly or use towel around for oil.
it is really simple if you know how to take cap off and have tool for it.
