I head you could put the inverted forks from a 2004 YZF-R6 onto a 2003 R6. The new forks are 50 mm and old 41 mm. I think I'm going to need a new upper and lower tripple clamp, Is anything else required, e.g. adapter plates for the brakes?

You will need the forks, clamps, calipers, bars, master, lines, fender and rotors. Also, it's the 05 front end you're after, 04 is the same as 03. Good luck.

yup 05 is when they started coming out inverted, but i read in one of the magazines and heard from a couple guys off the forum that is not good for the frame.

Thanks for the speedy response. Have decided to go with it any way, got a set of forks with breaks and master cylinder.
I have heard the break rotors need to be replaced and can be attached to the original 03 front wheel with an adapter plate of some sort. Any idea where I would buy one of those or what it's called.
Also need to replace upper and lower triple clamps. Lower one was damaged anyway. Have heard that the lower triple clamp is pressed into the steering head. Somewhere in there are some bearings. Have heard that there are 2 types of bearings available. Roller and Taper. I understand that the bearings can be upgraded to taper bearings. Does that sound right?
Will I need to get new handle bars? Also is the 03 Ignition switch compatible witht eh 05 triple clamp?

The steering stem is pressed into the lower clamp, if you buy a lower clamp it almost always has the stem in it. Get the best bearings you can find, take care to not oval your steering head when removing the old ones. It's a real chore to get the new bearing on the stem too.

Thanks I agree this is not my area of expertise. I'm going on fragments of information relayed by other people. I won't be the one doing the work. I'm just trying to get the parts cobbled together so I can have a competent shop assemble it for me.
