The flag drops at the 2.5 hour mark, only the leaders will finish then. You and I would be on course for prolly an hour longer.
The National I did was 2 hours, I finshed 16th in class and I was still out 30 minutes after the first checkerd flag flew. I just want you to go to Foresthill w/us:teeth

I just got an email from Frank (fgiraffe). He went riding in Foresthill last weekend and said: "Most of the trails had 4-6" of snow on them, some none, some had a foot of powder". :wow
I know a couple of people that leave close to Foresthill. I'll contact them beginning of next week to make sure that all the snow has melted... otherwise we will have to bring the snowmobiles instead!!! :laughing :laughing :laughing
fgiraffe
04-17-2003, 03:51 PM
It was sketchy up there yesterday! :wow But I bet it'll mostly melt by next weekend. They'll also get a lot of people riding this weekend so I think the snow on the trails will be gone.
All I can say with certainty is that it will not be too dusty!. :teeth

I will be camping in a tent. :loco Maybe I will bring a propane heater. I will also have cooking equipment like a colman stove and maybe a little BBQ. Is anyone else going to be camping in a tent?
About the snow, we could bring snowboards and pull each other with the bikes. :loco :teeth That may be a bad Idea, but we would have to make sure to get it on camera!!! :wow
I came here from Cleveland for a few reasons. Snow and freezin my A off was one 'em. I'm doubtful.:(

I'm still coming!! This will be my first ride since The Piglet and I'm so ready!! I also have lots of cooking equipment and will bring it!! My dad just gave me this COOL 3 burner stove from our old Aristocrat trailer from the 70's, it just needs to be hooked up to a propane tank. I also have another two burner Coleman and a BBQ grill.
I'm tenting! I was going to sleep in the Yukon, but since I have not yet purchased a trailer, I guess I will haul the bike in the trusty Silverado.
I've got 4 other friends almost talked into going. This will be lots of fun!

i should be at foresthill this weekend. i may have to ride my klx331 there (my truck is in the shop this week), but i'm dying to ride. if anyone is heading there from truckee/tahoe/reno that could offer a ride, let me know.
i would be happy to lead or sweep a group of fairly skilled riders on a scenic tour of loops 5 and 6. these are the most challenging trails at foresthill and are exceedingly fun. if you want to do these trails, be sure you are comfortable with narrow twisty trails on steep hillsides. if you have completed a real enduro, you probably won't have any trouble. if you have completed a family enduro and thought it was really easy riding, you'll probably be ok. if you are challenged by the other trails at foresthill, better skip this ride.
i would like to keep the group small (10-ish riders) because otherwise it'll take forever. i would probably be willing to ride it both days (once in each direction) if there are lots of people interested.

Mark,
Please go introduce yourself in the newbie forum (http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?forumid=23)! ;)
PS: GOLDizzle!!!!
Between you in Truckee, Dave Wood a few miles from Foresthill and Frank that will be riding sometime this week in Foresthill we should have a fairly accurate idea on the riding conditions by the end of the week.
Thursday we should be able to confirm the ride or post an alternate location in case Foresthill was not rideable.

Sorry I'd love to do this , but I gotta pick up my new R1 this sat and We've got two Little League baseball games we'd miss. Have fun without us.:(

I know Mark. We will have to put an orange hunters vest and a bright blicking beacon on him. He flies through the trees.

***JUST A THOUGHT***:
With a cold storm forcasted for Wednesday, and the possability of more snow at Foresthill, Pierre and I have been thinking about alternate locations. The best location I can think of (im only speaking for myself) would be a weekend daytrip to Clear Creek. Its pretty much the best place to ride after rain, and its fun as hell! Thats my view, please feel free to chime in everybody..

I say sunday but thats only cause I got stuck workin saturday, it's all up to you guys and gals though. I still need to get in touch with Shawn and see about getting my bike running the way it should be again.
Sunday would work too no matter where we go:thumbup again, this was just a thought.

So is the discussion a 1 day ride and new location :confused
Either way Clear Creek would be the best option depending on the direction of the incoming storms.
First choice for 1 day ride = Saturday.
Sunday works also.
Another thought, will anyone be bringing walkie talkies?
Dr.Z and Pierre, thanks for trying to set this up.
Weather report for the week through the weekend:

Yeah thats some shitty weather in the report! I looked up Foresthill on weather.com and it said rain everyday but Wed. :cry So that really sucks. How does everybody feel about riding in the rain?
we can reschedule as well, and have some sort of a ride this weekend at Hollister or Clear Creek or.....

Let's wait until Wednesday until we make a decision about this weekend. In the meantime please vote and express your opinions and preferences about alternate locations or postponing the ride in the new thread (http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=26784) I just created. Thanks!

The DirtyBARF Foresthill ride scheduled for April 26-27 has been postponed due to rain and snow. According to local sources, snow is expected below 3000' on Friday morning. The ride is re-scheduled to the weekend of May 31st-June 1st. A new thread will be created soon.
