View Full Version : Can I get a "new" 4 stroke role call?

I wanna know what "new" 4 stroker bikes are out there. If you own one, or have owned a few, lemme know which one's you've liked more! Comparison to similar two strokers..(CR vs CRF, YZ vs YZF, etc)

I don't know much about them, and want some rider input on em!

Rather discuss em than go just check out the manfu. websites.

Everett,

What do you want to do with the 4 stroke? Motocross, Enduro, Supermotard, Baja, Sand, Woods...?

Spent the youth on 2 strokes..RM's mostly..

Now a Yz400 ....starting it is a lesson in humility..cool ride, but I have not ridden a current 250 2 stroke...I think I would like the 2 stroke better.

I'd say 4stroke for anything except motocross and sand.
I like Yamahas more than the new CRf's. Used they are a much better deal right now.

My last bike was a '01 WR250f. Before that I had an '00 XR400 and a '89 YZ250(2stroke). The XR is purely a trail bike- comfy, easy, heavy. The YZ was much harder in more technical trails, but I liked it alot on the track. The WR was a mix of both which I really liked. But it was a little weak, so that's why I now have a 400cc.
4 strokes have their quirks, especially starting, but you get used to it.

I just wanted to chime in and make sure the soon to be released 4 strokes from Hondas don't get forgotten.

The
CRF250R (http://www.hondamotorcycles.com/motorcycles/motocross/model.asp?ModelName=CRF250R&ModelYear=2004&ModelId=CRF250R4) looks like it is going to kick much ass.

And the CRF250X (http://www.hondamotorcycles.com/motorcycles/off-road/model.asp?ModelName=CRF250X&ModelYear=2004&ModelId=CRF250X4) which is the same bike but with the magic e-button and some other stuff, is the one my deposit will be on :) :)

IS the magic "e" button for eject? :laughing

I like just knowing about stuff, and hopefully I'll get some money and maybe get a newer bike for dirt.

Oh nice. I like that CRF250R. Thing is probably $4000...

Dirt bikes are so overpriced. Guess people make too much money these days to make it a concern.

Are kawi and zook making similar models?

The magic button is the e-lectric start ;)
When I bought my KTM, I wanted a 4 strokes, electric start, green sticker, 400+ cc, not street legal, ready for enduro and hare scramble racing. The new WR450F is a red sticker bike so the KTM was the only one on the list of potentials. Luckily it is also the BEST!!! :teeth :banana

The KEY to dirtbikes is to by used. I've lost 4k on the two dirtbikes I bought new. never lost a cent on any used bike I bought.;)

For sure you can get a really nice used sportbike for less than most new dirtbikes.

I got a great deal on my DRZ and it was still $5025.00 OTD.

It's either red or green, there is no "no sticker" bike. The R must be a red sticker bike then... ;)

The XR line is the only Green sticker legal bike in their line. Im pretty sure the CRF wont be legal.

I stand corrected. The reason the CRF150 and 230 are "green legal" is because they are basicly XR engines(air cooled, smog, etc..) in an mildly updated frame and plastic;)

So a CRF250X will cost how much new OTD?

And it will or will NOT green/red sticker? (remind me the difference too. :))

We have started a new project bike based on the KLX-300. It has a green sticker and with our shops modification it really comes alive. The KLX-300 is based on the 94-95 KX-125 and is really a sleeper. While it is NOT a CR450 or WR250F it is amazing what can be done with the bike. We will be doing some shop rides and going to Club Moto with it so if a fellow BARF'er wants a test ride they can try it out. See our website at Kawi motorsports.com for more info.

Hey Ken!
That sounds great! Can you bring one to one of the BARF dirt rides? How much do you sell it for?

We just finished a $14,000, (YES 14K!!!) KLX400 super motard project built by Todd Risley at our shop. I will post some pic on our site. The bikes was badass!! Yosh built stroked, bored 450cc motor and complete motard conversion. The bike did 120mph at T/hill!
We chose the KLX because of the weight and price. It weighs 35lbs less than the KLX400 and is a $1000 cheaper.

I am going to put my numbers on only the day before the race. First reason is that I will be racing the Wild Piglet Enduro and I am number 7T and second reason is that the side numbers will be all scratched if I put them in advance... I always try to do hill climbs and crash in the middle :laughing :laughing
