View Full Version : Laws AGainst Stunting
Do we have an law enforcement officers on this board? if so can we get some information regarding freeway wheelies, stunting on public road, etc?
I heard that TECHNICALLY if you're doing a sub-65 wheelie on the freeway, its not speeding since the law never stated that you had to be on TWO wheels. But then again you infringed upon the territory of " Reckless driving/riding" (shrug) if anyone is bored enough at work find out for me since all of us on this forum will need to know sooner or later.
THANKS in advance!

From my understanding (I'm no LEO or DA) They won't get you for speeding. It'll either be exhibition of speed or recless driving. I almost got pegged for recless driving once and the cop said he could impound my car. But I don't know if he was just trying to scare me or not. (He didn't.):twofinger

What Jack said, I have talked to both CHP and Local Cops. Also like all other things, it depends on the cop. But like Jack has stated, it'll either be wreckless driving, or exhibition of speed. If you do a burn out at a light, they can get you for exhibition of speed, I have also read on the SBN board that a dude got a ticket for exhibition of speed for revving his bike when he accidently put it into neutral. Wreckless Driving is a 2 or 2 1/2 point ticket, you cant take traffic school on that one, and they can impound your bike.
Consequences mean nothing just as long as you dont get caught!!!!! :D :D

I reconfirmed for ya today at a police station and the traffic cop said that the ticket would be "wreckless driving".

When I decided to do a nice wheelie in front of a cop the first time I got a ticket for Exhibition of Speed, two points. When I was squidly enough to do it a second time, the sherif would have given me Reckless driving. Guess it really depends on the cop.
Thanks port. This sure has given me something to think about.:(

I got the same thing last weekend in Santa Clara. Hardass cop give me a reckless driving ticket for breaking traction while making a u-turn. The whole time he was saying how he was going to arrest me and tow my car. I wouldn't mind the ticket, but it's a 2-pointer. :(
dang that sucks.:eek
I don't know why cops harrass people at the worst times. Like why would you harass someone all alone on a deserted industrial street at 5pm on a sunday afternoon trying to learn endo's? As if im likely to hurt anyone except myself at that time and place. Traffic was at zero, and there werent any by-standers. Sometimes i wonder about the logistic state of the law enforcement mind set.

i agree w/ instance...consequences mean nothing unless you are caught...however, from my own experience, i got a 2 point reckless driving citation for splitting lanes w/out traffic....i was probably going 80+ but damn, a 2 point ticket for that shit...guess i shouldn't have pulled over, i even got my bike impounded and i had to serve 10 days house arrest and over $1000.00 in fines...see why i say i shouldn't have stopped...i could only imagine what i would have gotten if i was splitting lanes on one wheel.
don't stop, can't stop, won't stop...:burnout
