I'm looking into buying a cover for my shadow 600, but am not really sure what to take into consideration.

given the size of my bike, and the fact that i want to keep saddle bags on it, what size would be good?

i'll be commuting so i know the pipes will be hot. People have mentioned that covers can melt. is this a significant issue, and if so, what brand/material is best for heat resistance?

Noob questions:
do covers ever balloon up in the wind and tip bikes over?
do some materials scratch the paint/chrome?
i have soft saddlebags and don't know if i can "mount" them more securely to my bike. will a locked cover provide much security?
Is UV protection a significant factor?

Sorry for all the q's! I welcome all thoughts and opinions, esp for particular brands to check out! THANKS!

Nelson Riggs or Defender is made so that you can put the cover on the bike even if the exhaust is hot BUT I would still recommend waiting to let it cool off before putting it on...modern OEM exhaust have a heat shield that keeps the exhaust area safe but if it has an aftermarket exhaust, those often are hot....

different brands offer different fit so what is a medium in one company's description, you may need a large due to the saddle bags...

you do NOT want to get an XL if your bike requires a medium and especially if your area is often windy...you want a snug fit to prevent ballooing and wind chaffed on the body work from the cover...

some sportbikes stands up more upright and seen a 600RR get blowned the opposite way last year due to the cover acting like a sail/parachute...
