as another very long topic explains in general, i crashed into some bushes this weekend at the msf and the bike fell on top of my ankle. had i been wearing regular boots or shoes i'm pretty sure my ankle would have been busted.
however I was wearing these

and i got to test their anti-torsional ankle lock system. seems to work. the MC was pressing my foot down into the ground at an angle, but once i reached a certain spot, the boot just wouldn't twist anymore. this transferred the stress point further up my leg which i consider a good thing since my leg bones are much stronger than the ankle joint. my ankle was bruised but I sustained no other injury.
that was my left foot. on my right foot my foot slammed into something (not sure what) and the toe area of the sole of the shoe is now just starting to peel at the edge (separating from boot). that's slightly disappointing, and my toe is black and blue, but no sport boot really protects your toe from a front impact.
On my second day of riding these boots already paid for themselves several times over. I would not dream of riding without motrocycle-specific boots.
