I'm looking for large empty parking lots in the cupertino area where I can practice drills like stopping and swerving. Anyone know of one? I went to De Anza College on the weekend and got kicked out.

Probably nowhere that can be listed here.
It's going to be the same thing anywhere else that's got to worry about liability. By not asking you to leave, they're giving implied consent to you're practicing there, and if there's anything that causes injury to you that they can be blamed for, it's going to be real expensive for them.

I've gone to West Valley College in Saratoga and haven't been kicked out yet... you can try there.

around what time were you kicked out? and was it the cops that kicked you out or security guards?

i've been to the deazna lot a few times on weekend evenings, and even been stopped by a cop but he just chit chatted about riding and didn't tell me to leave...

well actually, i wasnt on my bike when this happened. Some friends and I was fooling around after finishing a project, and drove around in the parking lot in circles. No drifting or anything crazy like that, just drove in a circle twice and left. As we were leaving, the cops stopped us, and told us to leave and not to do stuff like that in HIS parking lot.

So I was thinking if they are anal about that, what would they do to a motorcyclist.

This was around 2 or 3PM. It was the campus police in a squad car, not the security guards.

I used to practice in Park and Ride lots for CalTrain and Light Rail. They are usually pretty empty on the weekends.

haha that must have been the same cop that told us not to race around in HIS parking lot.

A friend and I had finished installing a rear sway bar in his car and were doing some circles to test it out. :cool
