I'm trying to line up two more dirt bikes sow I can ride with my son and daughter. But I need to figure out how to transport and store the bikes. If I buy a trailer I've got little room left for the bikes in the garage. What solutions do people have for storing trailers? Is public storage a viable option? These folks in Danville won't let me park it int the driveway!:confused

Damian,

Contact volks057. He has a very small trailer that looks like it won't use a lot of room once store in a garage.

What kind of car/truck do you have?

Lexus rx300! It can pull three bikes but it's not your typical bike truck!:teeth

Kendon trailers (http://www.kendontrailers.com/)

Check these trailers out. This is the trailer im concidering since I only have a 1 car garage. They only make single and dual rail trailers but you could fit 2 full size dirtbikes and 1 small one on the dual rail trailer. They fold up and lean against you garage wall:thumbup There well built too!

Nice trailer! Perfect soluiton. But the price is outrageous! For that price I could probablypay for outside storage for a year or two.:wow

Looks like a fiscally responsible soution! I wonder If my SUV can handle the tongue weight?

Those hitch trailers seem cool, but the one thing I've heard (esp if your carrying more than one bike) is depending on your SUV you might want to get adjustable shocks.

On the trailer side, the Harbor Frieght one's fold up, I got one, works pretty good. I created a page (http://g3.1618.org/pelikan/harbor/) answering a lot of question I got (since it is a kit).

I'm going to replace my suv with a truck soon, so it may be for sale soooon.

I used to leave my bike on the trailer when all I had was a 1 car garage.
I had a set of blocks I would put under the back rails of the trailer & then crank the hitch stand up until the trailer tires were off the floor. Then I would loosen the tiedowns.

It was like having a bike lift in my garage. Oil changes were a snap & to service the air filter I stood on the trailer.

Here is the one I got, it is the smallest one and I ended up upgrading so I have 1-8ft rail in the center (so I can put a street bikes on it) and 2-6ft rails on either edge also went for the 12" wheels came out to $500 even to my door and about 4hrs to bolt together. I also got a 6' piece of angle iron and drilled some holes and bolted it up front so that I could get some leverage on the handle bars when 2 bikes go up. You would have to order the larger of the two if you wanted to put 3 bikes up on it as I can only get 2 dirtbikes or 1 street bike on my small one at a time.

Not a bad trailer really small so reversing can be interesting I tow with a VW GTi and with my hidden hitch tongue weight is 200 lbs with my XR400 and my buddys YZ250 I can still easily pick up the front of the trailer and move it around, and I am not a big guy so I assume that is under 200lbs! Your Lexus should have no problem. As for storage I usally do exactly what Farmer John said.

They also sell a bracket that goes on the side of the trailer that you can just tip it on edge and psh it up aganst a wall.
Of couse if I had the money a Kendon 2 bike would be the way to go those are awesome trailers.

I just saw this in the K@TT mailing-list:

Date: Sat, 1 Mar 2003 18:01:05 -0800
From: iangillies@attbi.com
Subject: FS: Trailer - $300

4x8 folding trailer. This is a commonly used moto-trailer from
Harbor Freight. It comes with 2 removable wheel chocks and the wood
planks, mounting hardware and tie downs are already installed. It
needs some electrical work to replace one of the break lights and a
new license plate. This trailer will easily haul two bikes. It will
carry 990lbs and takes up very little space in a garage once folded.
New it costs $270 not including wood or hardware and is a pain the
the butt to assemble.

Interested buyers contact me at iangillies@attbi.com
