Impossible to tell from pictures. Terrible paint looks the same as great paint in snapshots. Is the trunk rusted out? Or does it have the original jack and mat? What engine/transmission? (there's engine markers on the hood, but I can't read them in the pics)

326 2-barrel,auto.most likely 10-bolt rear non-posi...i'd do fake trans-am make over,not pro touring car.....

trunk is in decent shape. minimal rust. was garaged most of it's life. has original jack and mats

350 on the hood. A/T.

search the entire counttry on Autotrader.com and see what people want. Look at the morons on EBay too.

Then decide if you want to sell it or not.

It's prolly worth half that.

What are the specs?

Should be more than a Camero. They are better versions of the F-body, Pontiac enthusiast will pay a bit more because we are used to it. Sell it to someone who knows Indians/GTOs or it might be wasted.

350 2bbl :laughing

Just like the Chevy 69 is a unique body style.

I'm guessing $5K and up,

oops looks like mid teens... (add 10K to my estimate)

:laughing not first generations my friend!

Unfortunately firebirds are one of the cheapest muscle car era cars, my suggestion either keep it and do whatever you want or make it more ready to sell for a decent price.

The interior looks great so I wouldn't touch anything there. The color leaves a lot to be desired but unless its trashed you would not get your money back from a paint job. Maybe try and track down a 400 hood and make it a little bit more of a hot rod and not so much of a grandmas car.

I've seen first-gen Firebirds mocked up to look like Camaros (Camaro grill, Camaro hood, Camaro rear valence, Camaro marker lights), but I've yet to see someone convert a first-gen Camaro into a Firebird.

The color leaves a lot to be desired but unless its trashed you would not get your money back from a paint job.it was repainted to match original color. personally i woulda went w/ something different but it wasn't my $ to spend on the paint so i had no say.Maybe try and track down a 400 hood and make it a little bit more of a hot rod and not so much of a grandmas car.so unlike the bike world, it's better to mod up the vehicle than leave it stock? cause i know if i sold my race bike, i wouldn't get a fraction of the $ i spent on it.

Cal...modifying it would reduce value alot. On the engine and transmission are numbers that correspond to that year and make. Matching numbers make the car more valuable to enthusiasts. For the hardcore enthusiast, they'll look for the build sticker with all the option codes the car was built with to make sure everything is as it should be. They even care if the paint reproduced the same amount of orange peal that the original paint had.

Damn man...you make me miss my 69 Camaro. :cry

If it is all original--which it looks to be-- and numbers matching, it is potentially worth a lot of money, (http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/carsforsale/pontiac/firebird?current_index=15&sort=year&adtype=carsforsale&make=pontiac&model=firebird&price_max=&price_min=&year_min=&year_max=&type=&year=&no_dealer=&show_all=&dealer_id=&keywords=&zip=&range_miles=&range_lat=&range_lon=&id_in=&issue_date=&prev_pdf_index=&next_pdf_index=&with_images=) but since it is a 350 not a ton.

In the case of a bottom of the line v8 and an auto that is incorrect. If it were an at all rare car or a more desireable one that would be true but certainly not in this case.

Also a 400 hood was a factory peice so it would not be a modification per say, just like how its tough to run into a first generation camaro without a cowl induction hood despite them only coming on 1969 z28s, or spoilers on 67s...

With this generation firebird, even if it is a less desirable model, modifications, even innocuous ones like a hood swap, will in no way add value, especially if it is a numbers matching car. Same goes for color, even if the color isn't personally pleasing, the stock color-- appears to be Warwick Blue--is much better than a repaint.

Check out this site (http://firstgenfirebird.org/firebird/1969/id_numbers.html), this (http://www.firebirdgallery.com/69codes.htm) and this (http://www.classicfirebird.com/1969/69firebird.html) and find out what 350 is in there and if it is all original before selling. It is probably a standard 350, but if it is a 350 HO, let me know and I'll consider buying it.

I had a red, RAM AIR III convertible, M21, posi... and I can't believe I sold it in 1994 :cry :cry :cry

The HO, was a 4-barrel, and it had 4-bolt mains. He said it was a 2-barrel, so it has a standard block.

Of course I could be Forking wrong. ;)

Espumoso

I thought FawnDog said it was a 2 barrel. The hoods were the same on both, so I'm still confused as to whether it is a 2bbl or a 4bbl HO.

In any case it would be a shame if it were a numbers matching, original color car and were sold to some hack at a used car lot for 3K.

fawndog doesn't know how to spell Camaro

Cal brought the car over and it's in pretty good shape. But it's got an Edelbrock Performer carb on top of an Edelbrock Performer RPM Air Gap manifold and new exhaust from the manifolds back. Other than that, this car was kept pretty well intact. Way better condition than when I bought my 69 Camaro way back in the day.

Espumoso
08-13-2007, 12:13 AM
If it has an aftermarket intake/exhaust setup, it would behoove him to check the block and head stamps. If it is a 350 HO in that good of condition, then it will could be worth a lot.

The block code is stamped on the front, passenger side, just below the head, near the intake/water pump... last two letters are most important. Head code is raised and should be on the middle exhaust ports.

Of all the mods that wouldn't be a big deal, an edelbrock and headers top the list. The factory intakes and exhausts were pretty horrendous on everything except the RAM AIR IV and even then everyone at least did the headers. The factory Rochchester carb wasn't the greatest either.

I know people that go and buy 1st gen firebirds and turn them into camaros, the pontiacs just dont get the scrilla a camaro does in those years.

nice car none the less calvin, looks pretty sani. :thumbup

Personally, I like the firechickens better, Ive owned just about all gens F bodies over the years and those are my favorite.

Ill give ya $1000.00 for it, just so you dont have to move it for the street sweeper every week :p ;)

You could probably get about 8-10K for it realistically. IT is not super rare or fully optioned or anything like that, also since it is a firebird its going to be harder to sell. However I think you could easily get a solid 8K for it. ( I know a "little" about firebirds, check signature)

base model firebirds are better than base model Maros.

People who make Firebirds look like Camaros probably didn't want to pay for a nice chevy example.
220,000 Maros vs 87,000 Birds in 69. I preffer something semi unique like a Fbird or a GTO even if the Chevys look better.

Camaros have a HD like following, they are the icon of muscle cars and pretty plain in my opinon.

Agreed, the Birds had better option packages, but in dollar for dollar resale on the street and at auction, a camaro set up with all the same shit as a firebird will bring more dollars, unless its an early T/A or rare optioned car. But standard issue camaro, small block, stick, posi with the usual upgrades will bring more duckets than the same optioned chicken.

Persnally, I like the firebirds better also :teeth

I have one of those! In orange!

Mine was a daily driver through high school. I keep it now for weekend shows and Hot August nights.

Mines the 350 2 barrel not the H.O. There are a bunch of those out there, so it's not a rare car, but nice examples are getting harder and harder to find.

I finally got around to throwing a Holly Carb and 4BBL intake on this year. My guess is that you have the same setup I do (non HO with aftermarket intake and carb). In talking with people I've found that removing the stock 2BBL neither increases or decreases the value, because the 2BBL 350s are so common.

Here's a good local resource:

http://lists.f-body.org/mailman/listinfo/bafb

There are a bunch of dudes on there with lots of model specific info and experience. I hope you keep the car and enjoy it, but if you decide to sell they might be able to help out.

Good luck.

Funny... I've got a 1967 Firebird convertible I've been thinking of selling. It was my dads and was fully restored about 10 years ago. The interior and top are in good shape. I need to find someone to repair/replace the hydrolic top since it loses pressure over time. other than that it's in great shape.

Mine's yellow with a black top. it's got the 326 motor but a 3 speed auto transmission, yeah, the numbers don't match, but it is what it is...

Wonder what it's worth?

Cygnus
09-21-2007, 07:49 PM
it loses pressure over time? seems strange that any part of it would be designed to be under pressure at rest. but these are the same people who gave us electric headlight motors on that year's Camaros (as finicky as they are, you would think they were made by Lucas, the prince of darkness), so...

it seems to leak fluid, but i never see where from, as there's no puddle or anything...

I'd like to find a shop to take it to and just get it done right.

Except it's got a boat anchor, (pontiac), engine. :twofinger

Unfortunately, it's probably worth about $15K. If you have the stock parts still, you could probably get an extra couple or three grand out of it.

Shit, I actually may have the stock parts upstairs in my shop.......
