I am skinny, short person, 5'2. I am having a hard time finding riding jackets and pants that fit me. Do you guys know of a place or website where I buy them? Kevlar or Cordura are preferred. THANKS!

Thanks Max! I have tried on the Ballistic jacket. Unfortunately, it is still too big for me. The elbow armor shifts around. I need something in extra small! Too bad. The Ballistic jacket was my first choice. Thanks again!

I need you to break my legs. Then lengthen it by 5 inches. And hopefully, your steroids will increase my breasts.

might want to check out those armored shirts & pants then you can wear any jacket etc. also moto-x armor another option there's tons of elbow, knee/shin and torso stuff available. but remember if you want to start haulin' ass then nothing is better than leathers. I always ask myself would I want to go down at this speed, that usually is enough to back down pretty quickly.

Where can I buy those moto-x armor and armored shirts & pants? I can't seem to find them in the URL you posted. (http://www.chaparral-racing.com/) Would it be weird to wear motorcross elbow and knee pads underneath my clothes?

Thanks for the info and advise, Max! You rock!

click on apparel then dirt then a mfr. (like AXO) then protection.

I wear MX knee guards under my jeans everyday (even now :p ) forget they're there, pretty comfy. the new ones even have dual density foam behind the hard shell cups and more coverage. elbow guards would be the same, easy on/off with stretchy velcro straps. but I bet there's XS gear out there. used to be a couple businesses tailored for women riders only. try searching the net a bit.

another alternative is to purchase your gear and have it customized, say at helimot's or in the city by Johnson Leather.

necessity is the mother of invention!

oops, there are less dirt bike oriented gear in the ads section of most magazines too... Bohn armor co.? I think is one. I been thinking of getting padded shorts, kinda' like bike shorts, for hip and other padding.

oops again, have you been 'round to the local shops? Road Riders has tons of gear. Scuderia in the city. etc. Lots of "leather" shops too :chuci :teeth hee hee

From one short person to another...

I'd suggest getting a set of customfit leathers. Check out Helimot in San Jose.

http://www.helimot.com/

Or the not as good choice but cheaper option...

Buy a set of leathers that almost fits and bring it to a leather shop that will alter it to fit you. That's what I did, way before I started riding (was just a pillion). If I were to do it again though, I'd go with the customfit Erbo leathers.

Like DA said sounds like you have to go the custom leathers route. Well worth it in my opinion.

If you start to consider the leather route, you might also want to check out www.tigerangel.com If anything just to have something to compare. It really pisses me off that there isn't more selection...and I like to pretend that I have tons of options even though in reality its only something like 3 :twofinger

Anyway, if you don't mind waiting 3 months, you get a custom fit/color suit for a fairly good price due to the Aussie exchange rate. I think I priced out a one piece for about a grand..and they have cheaper street suit options as well.

You can touch the leathers at La Motavita. Though I don't recommend buying them there. Direct is cheaper.

Oh, and do you have really small hands? If so, what gloves do you have? A friend of mine does and is having trouble finding a rugged pair that fit...

Goodluck...although I wish you didn't need it :D

THANKS for the info Simulator. I will check them out.

I agree. There are not very much choices out there. I have been told it's because motorcycling is a male dominated activity. So, women's clothing/gear doesn't sell very well. That's got to change! Guys! Start making your girlfriends ride! Fellow females! Start riding!

A friend recommended me to check out Aerostich suit. < http://www.aerostich.com/riderwearhouse.store > They're almost as expensive as a leather suit. I think, they cost around $800. They can alter the suit to fit. They come in a 2-piece as well. Something to consider too.

I don't think I have small hands. I use Olympia gloves. I like them a lot. You can buy them at any Cycle Gear store and at Scooteria (or is it called Scuderia?) in SF.

Best, mrtnz

I have Held gloves and LOVE them!!! They are kangaroo leather and mold to fit your hands and they have the rivets in the palm to protect you if you slide.

They are also sold at Helimot or at your local BMW motorcycles dealer too usually.

Is there a group discount in this procedure if I join in:D ???

I agree to try Tiger Angel leathers at LaMotoVita. I was able to get the jacket one size bigger than the pants, and still pay standard price. The legs are a little bunchy at the bottom, but since I'm 4'10" they'd probably be fine on you. Anyway, only took three weeks and cost about $900, but the leathers are super soft and I love wearing them and extra bonus: no uncomfortable break-in. I tried to get some leathers altered by Helimot, and they said it would be anywhere from $250 to $400, because I needed the legs shortened, and they're the hardest. Pics of the leathers at

Look at the Ninja 250 folder...Good luck!!!

three weeks is much better than three months for Tiger Angel!

oh, and Amy at LaMotaVita is good people...you might remember her selling Vanson at ScuderiaWest. she knows leather for sure.

i have the Held gauntlets and love them too. unfortunately, the do not fit my friend. Blah.

Johnson's Leather in SF does armor fit and alterations too. i don't know anything about their pricing though...

and you know, lots of women ride! maybe we just don't complain to the manufacturers enough... :D

I did meet Amy at Scuderia. I will look for her and check out those Held gauntlets. Thanks!

I have heard about Johnson's Leather. They make the uniforms for the CHP.

I just wrote to Joe Rocket. They weren't of any help. They said.. We don't make XS in the women's line but they run very small and there is not many women that small...
- Todd Tueller, Customer Service ManagerYES! We should start complaining! I believe if they just put them out there, somebody will buy them.

For customs you can also try Jaun Lindo locally in San Jose. He started out making Helimot's stuff and then went out on his own. I believe his lead time is shorter than Helimot's.

MiniNinjaGrl - aka Kelly

drool drool mmmm rvf400, i saw this beautiful pic of rossi rep one once...siiiiiigh

i love my cbr. been riding it a few months now--and the judgement is that it is perfect. nibble not twitchy, light, you think it-it does it, and it turns on a dime...i don't have to break into turns that my more powerful bigger counterparts do. i've got plenty to work with and learn to work with. i would have a garage full of precision miniatures if i could...and a v-twin sprinkled in here and there ;)

i've ridden a hawkGT650, the trusty ex500, and an f4i (albeit not consistently with the exception of the ex) . . . so thats my limited comparo experience. but i prefer the cbr400 over all the others for varying reasons.

i think you are right that the rvf has a higher ride height but i don't believe by much. i'm a little taller than 5'3" and i more than flat foot the cbr no problem. mebbe you'll be on your toes since you are 4'10"?

can't wait to hear about your rvf when you get it.

Hey-luv the bunny.

I too am a bit short and small but have found that Joe Rocket jacket fits
but more importantly, First Gear-18004168255
has the protective pants w/armour.

Whoops, you want leathers?

I've done the chaps over jeans
but no armour.

Best of luck.

Hi fellow small person. I happen to be even smaller. 5 ft. to be exact. I just purchased a small size Euro 36 XTream Tour jacket and pants at Cycle Gear in SF for CHEAP!! They had another one in stock same size. They also has a few other jackets just my size. Drop them a line 415-546-0212

Santa Clara Cycle in Sunnyvale has a ton of Joe Rocket stuff and I know they make XS sizes.
