So I was riding Stockton on 10/5. The place was empty which gave me plenty of time to warm up to the track. After getting a nice compliment from a guy on a Yamaha (I was on a stock drz), I was feeling pretty good. I decided to do one last session.

I was really working sections to gain speed, and the last mini chicane coming on the back straight I had felt I was hitting every time. My last run I was coming out with good drive, foot out and Smack, my right foot does a 180 and I practiculy jump out of my seat. I manage to keep the bike upright and return to pit my bike. I sit, then fall to my back. I had thought I broke my ankle or something. Thank you to Jim, Nikko, and Matt who helped me get out of my leathers, dressed and my bike loaded up.

My plan was to drive myself to the Stockton ER and have my bike/truck picked up, but seeing there wait time and how far away my bike/truck was parked. I said screw it and drove myself to sutter memorial in downtown sacramento. The drive sucked as I felt every bump. However the service I recieved was incrdeible.

It turns out that I have a spiral brake in the tibula and fibula. They had me in surgery the next day.

I guess lesson learned. I should always quit while I am ahead. And, always pay attention as to where my feet are. I am selling my toy now to help cover upcoming expenses, but i defenetly plan to get into the sport again.

I hope you heal up quickly!

I learned that lesson when I was just a young boy.....had an 11' tall halfpipe in my back yard and everytime I dropped in after I had already told myself I was done for the day I hurt myself. Even happened at T-hill one day....was done riding for the day, convinced myself that I should go out for one more session on the new bike I was dialing in and I ended up lowsiding her in turn 11.......live and learn. Heal up, get back out there and when your brain tells you that you're done for the day quickly crack a beer and make it official!!

I will get out there again, it just won't be until next season.

The looks I was getting from the ER was incrediable, all I had to say to them was "I guess you saw the x-rays" Sutter had a great staff and took real good car of me. Having never had to be in the hospital for anything, I was pleasantly surprised. I was most surpriesed when they sent me home that night and said I had an appointment with orthopedics the next afternoon only to have them call me at 8:00 AM to inform me not to eat or drink and I was going into surgery at 6:30 PM

I have the same break in my left leg, hit a car that cut right out infront of me on hwy 9. My tibula has a rod from knee to ankle so its pretty stable....This is the third time this leg has been broken,(first on bike) my advise is plz let that thing heal. Before you know it you'll be out there again if u just dont rush into it.....take care

It's like skiing. It's always that "one more run" at the end of the day when you are tired that things go wrong. After I tore my medial gastronemius in half I learned to listen to that voice that says, "You are tired...give it a rest."

Well, most of the time I listen... :laughing

My last surgery was AUG.8th, my accident was on JUNE 3rd. So im still out now but before it was a good year before i could jump on it or run. Im walking on mine now with a rod in there and it hurts like hell but it is healing so im able to walk on it ONLY! If you have a stationary bicycle, that would be the best thing for it right now, no resistance at all though.....just to keep your ankle mobile if u can

:deadhorse never say or ride the last session.

I would like to know, if you don't mind, how your foot did a 180?
Did it get sucked under the peg? Or did you plant your foot?
What kind of boots?

I have two pairs of boots. Both sidi's. One is leather, the other hard plastic. I'll never ride with the leather again. I had a spill, and could not believe the damage my foot took with a hard boot! Might of broke it without hard boots.

Hope to see you out there soon:thumbup

I was using the 180 as an example of the type of break I had, it could have only spun around 160 degrees.

Anyways, Matt had it set up so as you hit one of the last left-handers (before the back straight away) you sort of swung a little wide into the next right (which if you hit it just right you could have full drive into the left which is the back straight-racers who know that track set up might be able to explain better)

Well I came in a lot closer than normal for the day to that right-hander, with right foot extended (two low to curbing) something caught (not sure what part of my alpine stars as everyting is blurr for that moment) my foot went from facing north to somewhere facing south. I hoped off the throttle and slowly rode into the dirt where a regained any control I might of lost. I got back on track, slowly, very slowly, and pitted my bike with a tie down against my truck. Thats when I fell to the ground.

I thought I had broken my angle, but once I made it to the ER in Sac and had x-rays, I realized it was a spiral fracture in two spots. I know have a rod and a couple screws in my right leg.

Bummer man... I learned a while ago to let it go if worn out. If you were not... then just a bad break.. no pun intended. Hope you heel up quick.

those lil curbs at the chicane at stockton are def. what you want your feet away from...I hit them a few times and thought about twisting my leg around.next time im making an effort to stay the f*** away from those things@!
