hi
i'm having some self inflicted wiring issues on my project bike. i have the factory manual that tells me which wires to to the ignitor, but it doesn't say which wire goes to which position on the plug.
if anyone out there can get me a pictures of the plug from all side i would appreciate it immensely.

I have my my '97 GSXR ripped open right now. Tell me what you are looking for and I can tell you.
What is an ignitor, the coil?

the ignitor is also called the CDI box by some. it's under the seat, rearward of the battery.
there are 2 plugs going into it, one plug has 6 wires going into a plug with 6 ports in it that is grey in color
the other plug, the one i'm interested in, has 8 wires going into a plug with 13 holes. it's white.
a picture of the white plug from the side that the wires go into showing which wires go where, particularly the light green one, is what i need

It looks the same to me, however mine is carb'd, and yours is FI.
update: I have both service manuals, and the wires are different between the 600 and 750. You need to find someone with a 750 to help you.
Sorry I couldn't help more.

i wish mine was FI, 1997 is the last year of carbed 750s
i have one more wire than you, and the ones that are there are different colors...
thanks for the help though, i'll figure it out somehow

I thought the 96' GSXR 750 was carb, and the '97-99 were FI?

not in my experience, but more likely there was a mid year changeover. my bike is dated 1/97 on the VIN plate
ronayers.com lists 2 different wiring harnesses for the 1997 gsxr 750, one of which has plugs for injectors
maybe mine is still considered a 1996 bike even though it was built in early 97 :confused

That sounds plausible. Wouldn't the VIN tell you what year the bike is in one of the digits? Or, someone could have had problems with the FI in the past, then switched it to Carbs? :dunno

whoooo knows, this bike is officially a frankenbike IMO. the vin looks to be complete gibberish, havent' looked for VIN decoder sites.

so what if both headlights come on at the same time for unknown reasons
so what if there are no tail lights or turn signals
so what if the regulator/rectifier is attached with a clamp
so what if the remote shock adjuster isn't really attached at all....
so what if i can't find the bolts that hold the forward tank mount to the frame
it's ALIVE
sane man, thanks again for the help. it was most usefull in making me critically consider the work i'd already done aka "where did i mess up" :laughing
a few details left and i'll be on the road again.....
