Is it as straight forward as it seems? Do I need to buy a new gasket?
Thanks in advance! :)

I would buy a new gasket, J.I.C. (just in case). Old ones have a nasty habit of ripping and half of them staying on the crankcase. :(

Don't drop the locating dowels. Usually two of them.

Order the dowels too if they're cheap. I've had them stick in the cover/case before and couldn't remove them without destroying them. Should be two of them as Jeffrey said.

good luck getting the 3 screws from the stator off... mine were on there VERY tight (prolly with some locktight of some flavor) and took me forever to get them off. finally had to use vise grips to get them off. they're the funny star shaped heads on 'em... not fun!

Yeah... name slipped my mind. I do have those bits and even with my 3/8 ratchet, they didn't budge... ended up stripping one of them out.
Hopefully yours come out easier... wouldnt hurt to have an extra one just in case you do run into some issues.

It's really pretty simple. You won't even have to fuss with the crank trigger on that side. Just be sure that the gasket mating surfaces are clean and that you torque down the bolts to spec and in a criss-cross pattern.
