I know I've asked this question before, but I'm too lazy to search. I'm in the process of converting my WR426 into a motard. It's already plated, and I already have a headlight and tail light.

Do I need to install turn signals to be legal?

No worries. you need a horn as well, but that's a little less noticeable.

you also need a charging system and a battery to pass the CHP inspection. you have to be able to operate the horn with out the bike running.

horn does not need to be electrical.

no need for a charging system. the tail light just has to be able to stay on for a minimum amount of time, so just a good battery.

So what you going to charge your battery up before every ride? or i guess just make sure you have a good charge before you take it to inspection.

the lights can run off of the alternator.

yeah thats how ive built the harness setups ive done. headlight and blinkers right off a regulated stator.

tail light and horn from what ive seen can drain a 1.2 amp hour 12 volt in about an hour. so if your just looking to just pass an inspection thats fine but if you want something functional use a rectifier.
