cut the hole anyway... its not hard and it helps... those filters will flow better, but wont help get more air to the box.

I say go with a full Yoshimura system, Factory Pro Jet Kit and no extra-hole in the airbox.

Just my 0.02.

On my old DRZ I went with a Yoshimura RS-3 slip-on, FMF header (fits the slip-on), Factory Pro Jet kit. The bike ran great... much faster than stock.

I love my Leo, it comes with 4 tips- quiet and loud for use with or without the spark arrester.

I've stayed with the quiet tip and it's great, no need to attract more attention with a loud tip doing the stupid things these bikes do.http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r220/mortiferf4i/Smilies/jester.gif

I think the full exhaust plus the properly tuned jet kit was a lot more than 1/2 hp....

I loved it stock too, but it was just so much better after....

If your going to spend the $$ on a Pipe make sure to get a full system. The stock header pipes on these things are the restricting factor. a slip on is only a tad bit better then a stock pipe with the tip replaced. It really only saves you on the weight.
