It came with the bike when I got it.It was in a very nice old lady's garage for 12 years and she wanted it out,it was her son's and he wasn't doing anything with it so she gave it to me.

Big fan of old Suzukis, myself.
Here's a couple of shots of my '83 GS750ES - Suzuki's first "modern" sportbike...
It's been down for 2 years now with transmission problems. I do have new gears plus a spare motor, but not much motivation. It's just a rolling chassis at the moment, but I have begun to collect parts again, and hope to get it back on the road before the spring.
I now have the aftermarket full lowers, a wider rear rim from a GS1150, GSXR1100 shock, Racetech springs, SS lines, fork brace, 34mm Mikuni flatslides (stockers are 32mm CV's), Yosh ignition cover, and a Kerker cannister pipe to replace the Supertrapp. Got tired of the discs blowing crap all over my rear rotor while the cold-blooded bitch warmed up. ;) I also have an era-correct Yosh shorty (just like the white/red FZ above), but the midpipe doesn't quite seal up fully on the header - I may end up having an custom midpipe made because the Yosh just looks too damn cool on there. I'm also planning to go with an Electrex R/R and stator upgrade, plus a Dyna S ignition...
Got some other impossible to find parts, as well - like the luggage rack, air-preload caps, steering stabilizer, etc. Since they only sold this bike for a single year in the US, it's like a freakin' addiction finding parts for it....
I'll post up a photo of a nice '84 Canadian model with full lowers for comparison, too. The lowers didn't become standard until '85, and were an OEM option in '84, but they never broght the GS back to the US after the Reagan tariff ended for the '86 model year since the GSX-R had been released in the rest of the world for '85...
(And a nicely updated first-gen Katana for good measure - GSXR wheels, USD forks...:thumbup)

it's an R100S, that's the stock fairing (although it isn't mounted in the stock way, ie it's hard mounted as opposed to fork mounted). it isn't the fairing that it was imported with, but that's a different story. carbs, exhaust (well, it's eurospec and 2mm bigger) and LOTS of other things aren't stock either.

Haha, I'm digging the 1100, 4tuneit1. I love that color scheme for that year. I guess the SS2R is really popular for those years, huh. I'm still looking for some Spigots for mine, My #2 Cylinder Spigot blew while I was opening it up. I was shaking tiny pieces of spigot out of the can for an hour!
Oh, by the way, I just started chopping a really rough shape '82 GS550E I had sitting in my garage. I just started, so it's very rough (i.e. spacers on the forks until I get longer ones!, nothing ground down yet etc) It is just kind of a little side project, and It hasn't cost me anything so far, just part I had laying around, and the 550 was free. not sure if you can call my monkeybike old school or not. Design has been around for 20+ years now and not much has changed, but there is a ton that can be done with them.

^^^ I love the monkey. What was it originally? And dare I ask, how much money have you put into that thing?
Someone say old school? My '83 750.

:)great thread with great bikes. i love the old beemers and the tricked-out mini-bikes (or whatever is the correct term for them is these days).
i sold her a month or two ago, but i made sure she stayed in the barf family. :)

Awesome bike im super happy with it! Thanks again:hail
Its funny how inexpensive it is to insure one of these, as i found out the other day! :laughing 60 bucks a year!!
Recently did some cleanup and minor fixins, and she runs a lot better, although she was good to go from day one!
Also have some big plans for her makeover soon:teeth
Its an awesome bike and i dont wanna change to much of it.
Ill have some pics up later of the "after"

Here is a pic:
Before: (not this exact bike, but same thing)

Now:

Please tell me you're chopping a 550E, and not a 550M (Katana) like the stock photo above.....:cry

some progress on my oldschool mini trail.
carbon tanks about half built. things are slowing down with it due to a back yard landscaping project.

Things to do still:
finish carbon tank, (bond in cap and petcock, and bond together)
Make rear carbon fender.
Finish mounting custom bent 1" bars with internal throttle.
Wiring.
install final exhaust.
Lots to do. :|
**Side note** thanks Tygaboy for all the help and instruction with the carbon stuff.

Katana!!
I had the pleasure of racing one for a while.. the highlight being riding one twice in the 24 Hours West at Willow Springs in 88 and 89. 600 production class.. We finished 3rd and 1st in class and 10th overall in 89.
The interesting thing was the ongoing modifications to the footpegs during the race... and what started as 3" pegs ended up as 3/4" pegs.. damn they drug bad..:shocker
While not the fastest or the nimblest bike is was rock steady (KSJO pun intended) :p

i'm glad to hear you're having a good time with her. :thumbup this is why i was intent on keeping her in the family--a bike like that should be ridden by somebody who can appreciate it, not some craigslist moron who would never understand it.
here's to many miles of fun in the future!! :ride :Party
*edit--please shoot me a link to the 'after' pics when you have them.

That Hog looks like one of these, though I realize it's not the same bike. I captured these pictures at a combined vintage car and bike event at Loudon in 2006. Here's the blog post (http://azinger.blogspot.com/2006_05_01_archive.html).
