I remember when this incident happened and just saw this vid posted on another forum. It's crazy to watch for those who haven't seen it...

Watch Colin Edwards' reaction and try to read his lips at the end:laughing

Colin was flipping everybody off. :laughing

I love when you can see the fire inside...on the outside.

how many people have to crash on that damn curve before somebody goes

wait a second! there seems to be some dangerous situation going on over there??

oooh I would be so furious, lol I like how he just flips everyone off

F'ed up situation

Shows some of the incredible control the riders have though. All that loss of traction and look at how many were able to keep going.

Castrol curve.Kinda ironic.
I was thinking the same thing :laughing

aw when colin was still super fast... Or was that when Slight was still super fast... Whatever.

There was a similar situation in BSB back in 01 or 99 or there abouts when Reynolds actually went up to the flagger and tried to yank the reg flag out of his hands to wave it himself if I remember correctly.

O yea, I remember when this race happened, good clip, Foggy was a badass.
Theres a reason they don't race at the Nurburgring anymore.

Think of it this way, he was out competing against who we now call legends, and he was still in MGP 8 years later.

Impressive I call it.

He must be a fellow barfer the way he was flipping people off.:twofinger:twofinger

I thought Colin eventually grabbed an oil flag and started waving it? Or mebbe that was a different race, hard to remember them all.

He was definitely fired up after that, such a travesty to continue a race with a big puddle of oil out there. They were dropping like flies.

i wasn't into bikes or racing back then, why didn't they red flag or do anything about the spill? seems like a no-brainer

:shhh We workers like pickin' up wrecked bikes more than we like wavin' flags. :laughing

But seriously, it reminds me of World Superbike at Laguna in '01 or '02 when Colin thought there was oil in turn 5. There wasn't (not that we could find, anyway), but he crashed there, got up and pushed one of our workers out of the way, grabbed the red flag and started waving. It was kinda funny, but had it been my flag, he would have found himself on his ass in the gravel real quick.

Oh, yeah. Nice BARF salute!

You'd figure after the 3rd or 4th bike going down in the SAME SPOT someone would figure it out.

And throw the flag

HHHMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmm

That was just rediculous! Those flag marshalls were instantly fired and came to the Pac10 to be booth officials during the football games.:shocker

Wow never saw that one... I know it's already been asked, but seriously, why didn't anyone stop the race?

I can see why Edwards was frustrated and I love the guy as a racer, but plenty of other guys went down in that same slick and handled it much better...
