I think CreekRider just got the X-11 and really likes it. Check with him.

Nitro just got one too, he seems to love it, but I'll let him chime in here.

I got one and equiped it with an iridium shield. The liner was easily removable. The ventilation is great. The noise level was better then that of my RF-900. Sadly, there was a seriously annoying squeek in the left ear. The Shoei rep from the place where I bought it took a look and immedietly wanted to send it back to Shoei. Still waiting for word on it.

I know it's a new helmet and I'm due for one, but do they still only have 3 graphic designs on the X-11?
Coming off the RF-900 so I'm pretty sure it's a worthy upgrade.
:love
I'd love to have an X-11 but wished they had more of a design to them than what they have out now but I wouldn't mind a solid metallic silver......
My next choice would be an Arai RX7RR Haga replica but only if it cost same or cheaper than the Shoei.......

Who has the X-11 in stock? I'm looking for a new helmet and didn't see it at Road Rider.

I thought so too Rob- ask for them, they have them stashed upstairs.

Cool, thanks! Will head out there this weekend and compare with the RX7.

I also found out while Shoei's site says it's the same shield as the Z-II (CX1), it's not. Instead it's the CX1V - but does have the same mechanism, with a new "lock when closed switch".
I'm still waiting for freaking UPS- ever notice when it's hobby related you're always the last stop- 7pm? But if it's work, the sucker is pounding the door down at 10:30? WTFITAA?

I would love to get one, but Shoei really messed up the shield. It doesn't fit proper againts the rubber seal. I'll stick to the RF-900 until they get it right.

Finally arrived! Looks like the shield fits nicely, I'll report on wind noise tomorrow.
Pretty neat; more vents & more ability to control them. I especially like the spoiler; one of my minor gripes with the Z-II was it "lifted" at speed, so it will be cool if this thing works. Nice to see the latest version of the chin strap clip came on the helmet too- I lost three of those things off the Z-II.
I stuck a Fog City photochromatic liner on the clear shield & stuck a dark shield on the helmet for now. John

Just got mine yesterday (Light Silver). Rode in with it today. Notes:
Stupid light! :teeth Easily as light as RX7-RR4. This is why Arai claims to have lightened the RX-& Corsair. Will compare this to Corsair when we get some Corsairs in.
Finish is better than the Silver RF-800 I had a while back. Deeper gloss and more even metallic. :cool
Fits me like a rubber glove immediately. My Arai always have to 'break in'. I appear to be on the limit of an Arai Large but perfect Shoei Large. ;)
Noise level :shhh - Whistling noise appears to happen when you drop your head too far. Comes off the back of the 'aero' stuff in the back of the X-11. No problem to me. Fantastically quiet otherwise.
Field of vision is much larger than my Arai Quantum/f. I haven't complained about my Arai, just notable difference. Arai claims to have opened it up some on the new RX-7 Corsair, no word on trickle down to Quantum/Astral/Signet lines. :confused
Strap securing mechanism is clip-to-D-ring vs. simple snap on Arai. :mad I prefer the simple snap. Something you shouldn't have to think about to get done, and God help you if you forget it and try to get it while moving and/or with gloves. :(
By far this is Shoei's best helmet ever, especially for the track where the aero stuff may actually come in to play. Also your head is always up (i.e. no whistling).
I'm happy to have my Quantum/f for street. There's a reason that the Quantum has been consistently awarded 'Best Street Helmet' for years.

Yeah I got a X-11 a few weeks ago. Great helmet! My experience with it has been similar to what maxleanangle said above. Very quiet in general but there is a little whistling noise at freeway speeds. The ventilation is GREAT! I usually ride with just the chin vent and exhaust vents open and it's much better than the HJC it replaced with all the HJC's vents open. And yes its very light. It weighs less in its box than my HJC does without the box. Only thing I would change is to add some of the designs that you can get on the RF900 to it.
I give it a :thumbup FWIW I bought mine at helmetharbor.com. I got the anthracite and it was $395 shipped.
hehe, barf by proxy.

You can fine-tune the position of the visor hinges and therefore the fit against the rubber seal. Unfortunately, you have to take the visor off to do it so it requires some trial and error to get it right, but it is an easy fix. The RF-900 hinges adjust the same way; yours apparently came from the factory with a good seal already.

Yeah- what FatSlim said.
I have found a "sweet spot" where you just snug up those screws, adjust the visor fit, look where everything is, then carefully pop the visor and tighten them all the way. In any case, with a little patience, you'll get it.

Is this helmet considered a Arai shape or standard Shoei shape? I have the head shape of a alien so most helmets like the Soumy don't fit right.
