It's never too early to start planning. :D
Throw out some ideas. There was some talk at Round Table about doing a BBQ.

I think the organizers from last time are still exhausted! :D

I think a BBQ would be a great idea. If we do it we're going to want to hire a catering service as no one wants to be the chump stuck at the grill for what we expect to be over 75 people! There are some other issues that need to be addressed as well, like where can we go. I like the Vasona idea (Los Gatos) but I'm sure there are others.

Let's get vocal and we can start organizing our production team.

I think we could also do it at Foothills Park (up Page Mill Road in Palo Alto).... would be fun to ride there, oh ya and the park is nice too :D

there is a park right behind my house, with lots of parking. steve has seen it. i dont know if he likes it, i had my grad party there, theres a gate goin to my backyard. it has lotsa lawn (volleyball can be set up easy), theres bball courts, bball diamonds, and BRAND NEW PLAYGROUNDS!!!!!!!!!!!!! for all u gsxr riders.

there is hella parking (free) and there are bbq's and benches, and i can wake up early and garuntee the whole thing will be ours. theres no lake though, unless u walk down the trail to almaden lake, which is another spot that might work.

a bunch of harley guys had a bbq there. whole streets were filled with em.

ok my mind is always in the gutter. all ready for lost wages!

this barf BBQ is going to be huge. potluck sounds ideal for those with packs and whoever cages it will help immensely with coolers / ice / etc. oh man... my mouth is watering just thinking of a huge 30 lb. bucket with marinated beef kalbi to grill !!!!

grinds, brah!

I say collect $10 from everyone and things should be more than covered (aspecially if you think there will be 75 people). Most of us were surprised that we were only asked to pay $5 at Round Table (I suspected that might be enough).
Also with the extra money we can maybe get party favors for everyone (like the CDRs last time) and/or Avatar awards.
Just a thought. :D

I'm with you max, old skool korean bbq like mom used to make, hehe. Hey here's a suggestion let's try and have it at least a bit more central so everyone can make it. No offense but I'm not going to milpitas for a bbq when this is supposed to be a bay area thing. :twofinger

also I'm sure i can convince the old lady to cage over some meat and budweiser. I know you guys have girlfriends with cars too so let's put them to work.

Let me be the first to volunteer to bbq if it comes down to that. I like doing it and have some skills, and I can bbq, too. Have done it for large group with occasion relief help, and some kind distractions. :bbq

In the alternative, we've used a service Absolute BBQ (San Mateo) here at work (Hayward) and they are very reasonable (I think it was about $300 for 50 heads, with set up food, drinks, chips and dip, etc.). I can check into it more if you like.

Looks like we have a few ideas so far, the meeting of the highly caffeinated will take place and something will be decided.

...what ACTUALLY happens at the meetings is Steve says "we are going to have it here, at this time and thats it, cause I am the C.E.O, and I can BAN your ass"..........

You're too kind! :teeth I found out my trip will be the first weekend of June, not the last of May, so I'm back on the attendee list!

Woohoo! Keep the ideas rolling, everybody, so we have a good list of ideas to go over at the next Meeting of the Mods!!

If people are complaining about the South Bay location, there's the Berkeley Marina for a BBQ. That'd be a more central areafor everyone. I've never been there, but I know some people that have held bbqs there in the past.

There's also that reservoir S. of Los Gatos on Hwy 17. I don't know the name, but I did some community service there. Nice secluded area right by the water, with lots of space.

Might i suggest a more centralized location for all parties involved? ( ie: SF, SJ, San Mateo, Pennisula,Contra Costa folks. etc..) Lake Elizabeth in Fremont off Stevenson Ave. It is located between 680 and 880...30 mins from Oakland/SF, 20 mins across the bridge from the San Mateo/ Redwood City, Palo Alto area, and 30 mins from Concord, San Ramon, Walnut Creek, Dublin area, and about 20 mins north on 880 from San Jose. I think this should work in everyone's favor? it got a nice park...ample parking..lots of nice grass for football..soccer..etc..and its got a sand pit for volleyball. A really nice lake as well..( hence the name)...only thing is...someone has to get up early and reserve the canopy area like we did last time for 5150's party. Let me know if this is something you might consider.

There's also that new park in Fremont off of Isherwood and Alverado. Seeing as the park just opened it might be a little less crowded that Lake Elizabeth.

Talking to Someone last night at starbizzy's is once a month too often to schedule these things??. There are now over 300 barfies, and it would be cool if 200 showed up at the BBQ, but has anyone ever tried to organize a bbq and not know if its for 50, or 250...or more with the significant others.

We are on the right track though, first pick some places, maybe select some organizers, who:what:where, I will help, anyone else??? ( the organizers need to rotate, cuz its not fair for the same people to do all the events)

Do a ride to check out the places, find out if they need reservations for a group that large...

Find out the estimated cost for 50, 100, 150 , 200, 250??? people

Decide the format, collect money from people for Barf to buy and cook the carne and pollo, cagers bring pot luck, riders bring cash...for bebidas.

Finalize the date, make reservations, put up the poll, collect some up front money(Steve, paypal????)

If the management can agree that the last saturday of each month is too rapid a turnover, can we post a poll for the date?

I don't see it happening untill late june. 15,16 or 22,23 at the earliest. even 8,9 only gives us about 3 weeks.

I think this is called Little Basin. My co. (new HP) currently allows employees to use it (I think they still allow..). I'll inquire tomorrow to get details. If y'all interested and I can actually reserve a part of it, we can have it as an option so long as I still have a job at the new HP (gulp!!)

When I was driving 9 last sunday night/monday morning, I stopped off there. It's Lexington reservoir, and the picnic area is called the Douglas B Miller Memorial Point.

I don't think it's reservable though, you just show up and pee on a tree or something to claim it. There is a $4/vehicle parking fee though.

If anyone wants to check it out, go 17S past the turn off for Los Gatos/Hwy 9, take the Bear Creek exit off 17, then go across the overpass and get back on 17N, then the reservoir is the first exit. Continue down that road for 1.8 miles and you'll see a big sign for the Memorial Point. You have to walk down a trail a little ways to get to the site, but it's right by the water and looks great for a BBQ.

arrg. gonna have to scratch this one. it's more of a camping ground with a peep limit on who u can bring. no pets also so that'll be a bummer for pet lovers who want to bring out the loved ones for a nice day out. oh well....

Keep the ideas coming. We goofed and reserved a site for June 16th... well, that's Father's Day so we can't do that. We're moving the reservation into August for BS7, meanwhile we're still trying to figure out BS6.

FYI, we're too big to do monthly meets now, too much planning, so we're switching to semi-monthly. :teeth
