We will be meeting at the (Shell I think) gas station at the base of 9 in Saratoga. (Intersection of 9/Saratoga Ave/Saratoga-Sunnyvale Rd) Meeting time will be anytime between 9:30 and 10:30. Leaving at 10:30 on the nose.

This ride will be a "Supper Bowl" ride with 1st and second place winners receiving prizes. (They arn't very exciting but they're free.:twofinger)
Rules for the game will be provided at the begining of the ride. (Hint, it's similar to a Poker ride.)
The route is not set at this point so any suggestions are apreciated. If we stay on 9 we can take a short detour (about 10 or 15 minutes) to a winery I used to work at that is just up Bear Creak Rd. Has a nice view of Monterey Bay and it's just a nice place to stop. We can decide that later.

It's kind of an open day so now worries. Just show up and let's ride. I personally am just out for the ride so I'm not going to be pushing it so if it's still a little wet I'm still going to be out there. But if it's supper wet. (Rained up until 8:00 AM or still raining) I'm staying home.
Please reply if you are planning on coming. I'll start making a (mental) list. (I hate lists.)
Again, if you can think of anything to add please do. I'm a virgin ride planner so be gentile.

I'll be on the same criteria as you, if it's raining late the night before or early that morning I'll be sleeping in. Other than that see you there. I'm not that much of the leader on the bike so what ever is clever!

Sucks -- I positively have a commitment for the whole day so I can't make it. The evil half of me is hoping it rains so I don't miss out, the other half of me hopes you guys have an awesome time and can't wait to see the pics and hear about Jack's game.
All work and no play...

There's still a good amount of snow on parts of 9... we also gotta worry about ice!! U guys know how long it takes 9 to dry...
below freezing temps(at night)+wet roads = ice... right?... I know parts on 9 are still going to be wet from the storm we had a few days ago... but patches of black ice in mid corner could really fuck us up....
But, if the road's in good condition i'll be up there.

You'll be up there regardless! You're always up there! You're like all the turns and signs on the road... if I don't see you when I ride 9 I think there's something wrong! :cool

I'm down to meet, there's a Chevron off of Automall that would probably be a good place to meet. I don't know how fast your ride so I don't know what time we should meet. It usually takes me about 45 minutes to get to Shell riding fast.

Port4mance, ok lets say I'll meet ya there at 9:00 a.m. The pace on the way there doesnt matter too much just as long as we aren't saying "Mr. Officer, we want a ticket".....:D :D
See Ya SATURDAY.

Well it turns out I'm not going to be able to make it on Saturday. I got laid off yesterday so I need sometime to get my affairs in order. You guys have a great time and I hope I'll be able to make the next group ride.

Since you mentioned it MStingray, I'm not too keen on doing twisties this weekend either but I am down for some normal non-twistie riding though. Anyone down for a basic long ride with like a lunch stop in between or something, I dont know what everyones time restraints are that day, so speak up!!!!.....:D :D

FUCK!!! I HATE THE COLD WEATHER!!!:finger :flame :mad :flame :finger
I live in Cali for a reason. That reason: I can live where it's warm. If I want snow, it's 3 hours away!
OK, I was wondering if there are any low altitude twisties anyone knows of? If not, I'm down for just riding around all day and making a couple of stops here and there and hanging out getting to know everyone. Any suggestions?

straight roads suck:twofinger ... I'll be on 9 despite the conditions, just to check out what it's like for myself... I think it should be fine mid-day saturday. No rain expected friday, only cloudy skys, cloudy means warmer nights(cloud cover holds in heat from the daytime) which means there's a less chance of temps going below frezzin on 9... so no ice... maybe. Anyways I think i'm goin to check it out on saturday around noon.
Sorry your group ride didn't work out as planned jack... maybe next time...

I knew you'd be up there regardless, GP. :toothless
Quit dodging the "straight" rides. No one is going to ditch you, and it's not like your bike is THAT slow!

I've ridden a 6 and it blew me away:eek .... much much much faster than my little 250... it's no fun riding the straights on my slow ass bike. Can't pop wheelies unless i'm going about 5mph:(
Although stoppies are possible. If i had the money i would have started out on the EX-500...but atleast i ride, what were u riding at my age:twofinger
The next time u ride with me i gotta show u somethin cool... I wore the rubber off my pegs and now when i drag i SPARK:D I never knew i sparked until art(who was riding behind me) told me. I'm pretty much getting pegs down on every corner now, when i get some proper gear, i can start hanging off and maybe i could keep up with u. So maybe next weekend...

Back in high school my friends and I tore it up on a YSR50 that we crashed numerous times every weekend and an old Honda enduro. I waited for the sportbike 'cause I woulda killed myself (I had NO restraint when I was younger.. haha).
Go easy on those hard parts (pegs), my friend... once you're draggin those you can't lean any further. Don't ball that thing up, now... ya hear?? :D
rsrai and TypeIII have ridden behind me when I was draggin' pegs and he said mine didn't spark. Wonder what the difference is??

I'm down to do twisties, but if its all sandy/wet like MStingray said, that'd be no fun.
Some lower elevation suggestions that were made were:
MStingray - Skaggs up in Sonoma County.
Rsai - Uvas to Hecker Pass
Dark Angel - "I can't go on Saturday's ride but thought I'd try and make some lower elevation suggestions.
I think Mine's Rd., starting at Livermore, might be okay. Then head out towards I-5.
Or Uvas Lake area in South San Jose, although that's a pretty boring ride. Although you can take it out towards Watsonville and it gets pretty twisty."
The location/distance doesnt matter to me, but the road conditions do. I haven't been on the roads mentioned, but am able and willing.
Someone make some decisions..........:D :D

uvas to hecker pass is pretty fun closer to watsonville. then in watsonville we can go onto Eureka Canyon Road, which if taken all the way to the end turns into highland ave and then summit and then goes into 17. but the top of eureka canyon is stricken with potholes cuz it is very seldomly traveled. we did it once and it was worth it for the view, but the road at the top was garbage. But, the first half of it is fun.
we can play around on that and then ride back hecker pass and go back, or go to 17 through freedom.
or, if u guys want more local twisties, we can start off at Silver Creek, meet maybe at that shopping center at Farnsworth and Silver Creek rd. from there take san felipe rd to metcalf, which is nothin but twisties, and then it dumps u off on monterey, from where we will go south, and then right at bailey, left at santa teresa, right on llagas rd, onto oak glen, pass the quail lodge orsomething, the big harley hangout, and then make a left on uvas and head to hecker pass.
sound good????

Ooooh... San Felipe.... I always forget about that little gem!
Hey, why don't you guys ditch the whole "twisty" idea and just stunt in a parking lot somewhere. You know you want to. Just do it. :twofinger
Actually, the guys at 5150 would probably know a good place to go and might even join you! :D :cool :eek

have you guys decided on what ride you're gonna do.
the cool thing about uvas is that it's not so high up, where it's a danger for black ice.... also it's 30 seconds from rsrai's and my houses. :D :D
whatever you guys decide, i'll try to make it. the only thing that is stopping me is if i have to prepare for my brother's b-day.
thanks ravi for painting my swingarm last night till midnight. my garage is pretty warm...:rolleyes

Steve........I gotta use them 919cc's once in a while. :D

Ride is on. Meet at the shell in Saratoga. We WILL go up 9. Carefully. If we need to come back down, then we will and head south of SJ. I have spoken and so it shall be.:D
Don't forget about the game. I am still bringing those two prizes. You can't win if you don't show up. (One of them has a value of about $15 and the others value is over $80. You think I'm kidding? Show up and find out.)

Back when I was in high school they didn't even have ysrs. A sport bike didn't come with body work... yeah back in my day!
I had a honda 125, I can't recall the model but it was a street bike. A year later after I got out of boot camp (U.S.M.C.) I bought a Suzuki GS550. No bodywork, but it was a sportbike.
GPracer, The next time the "group" does a more straight, less curvey ride I'll take out the ninja and ride. Work on getting some saftey gear.
Steve, you can show me what you got (ysr skills) at the hill if I bring my sons YSR. Not sure what condition the ysr you rode in high school was in. My sons bike is bored out to a 60cc,24mm flatside carb, Aluminum swing arm, fork brace, fox shock, race rubber, aluminum wheels. It's good for about 60mph. Hell if it was street legal, I would take it to 9 just for laughs. I would be in 5th the whole time:D :D :D .
I just sold my ysr80. That thing was wicked, if geared right it could push 90 mph!
