View Full Version : Turn signals/brake light connections crossed?

So I have this thing where my front turn signals are always on. You can use the turn signals and they get a little brighter and turn off when blinking, but the rest of the time they are always on.
Also, my brake light is only on when I hit the brakes. I thought it was supposed to be dim constantly, and bright when I hit the brakes.
Does this sound odd to anyone else? Can anyone think of a connector that is supposed to be hooked up to the brake light that might be hooked up to the front turn signals instead? I tried checking my service manual but it didn't describe anything like that in the lighting section.

dont front blinker lights on most bikes double as runing lights?
also you might want to check your brake-light bulb. I am assuming its a dual filament bulb, the primary filament acting as running a light, the secondary as a signal. On of the filament may have burnt out.

I'll check the rear brake light filaments, good idea.

Some after market turn signals have extra leads to operate as running lights. If your bike is used, it's possible the previous owner wired things incorrectly (E.g. wired the lead to your brake running light into the turn signals.)

This is also very possible. The previous owner was an idiot.
Been fixing his mistakes for months.

I know how you feel man.
I've never had a used vehicle where I didn't end up either removing or cursing every single one of the previous owner's after market modifications.
My current bike came with orange tires, stripped bolts in the Yosh muffler, and a hot bodies under tail kit with useless signals.
