I just installed chain adjusters on my bike last night, however, it looks a little off.:wtf There seems to be a gap between the swing arm and the counter part. Has anyone installed the Gilles Tooling chain adjuster on there 07 R1? The part number is KTS-RN19.

I don't see why the gap would cause a problem.

I have that gap as well. Don't worry about it, it's normal.

They look the same on my K5 1K.
mine don't have a gap and they haven't on either the 00-03 GSXR's or the 06/07. Sorry to mess up the average.
But, as long as those retainers hold them on tightly it shouldn't be any issue.

Thanks for the heads up Hooli.
I am going to put the stock adjuster bolts in for extra insurance after reading that.
You also reminded me I need to get back on gixxer.com as I have always learned a lot on there and have been only BARFing for too long now:twofinger:teeth

Thanks for the info. It sure makes since from the Gixxer forum about the chain adjusters failing. Shoot! :mad I'll have to keep and eye out for the axle.
I hope I didn't waste a couple hundred bucks.
Thanks for all the input guys. I really appreciate it. :thumbup

I have a set on my K6, and although they've been on there for almost a year (and a trackday weekend!), they haven't done anything out of the ordinary. But I'm still going to reinstall the stock adjustment bolt and locknut. :)

Dont forget to check manual for axle torq. most people are suprissed at how high it is .
Some as high as 80lbsfeet.

IIRC my R1 was something like 109lbs-ft. My GSXR is 72.5lbs-ft.
I personally don't torque my rear axle that tight, but hey, that's me. I torque it enough that everything is compressed and rolls correctly and then I torque it a hair more.
I'm thinking that this guy might have over torqued it and that the gilles aren't as strong as the OEM blocks ask they're thinner and sit one on top of the other (axle nut pad on the chain adjuster frame).
Either way, I'd like a nice snug fit on the retainer if possible, but as long as the front bolt is tight (where the OEM adjuster is) you shouldn't even have to run the retainers if you don't want to. Afterall, they aren't there on the OEM bits.
