I'm looking at a 99 GSXR 600 as a track bike. Anything I need to be aware of for that bike and that year? Stock motor and suspension. 20k miles. Looks to be in good shape. Comments and advice greatly appreciated.
sv is faster than that :)

I agree with Zoran, SV is faster and easier to ride.

And have had two track days on it with almost no track time. First one I was missing a bearing spacer and wouldn't pass tech. Second one the carbs were off and it didn't run right.
The few good miles I put on it were good though. It wasn't the bike it was it's history that was giving me trouble.

I had one. A 2000 model.
It was my first track bike. They are heavier compared to newer bikes, but really stable in the turns. Flicks back and forth ok. Easy to work on. Parts are out there, sometimes in abundance, sometimes not.
Get some good rubber on it. If you have a few extra bucks, do the suspension (I rode on the stock suspension, but dialed to my weight). Switchin' out the sprockets can give you a little better acceleration and IMO, a definite must. BTW - I am slow. :teeth
I miss my old srad.... the last of the bubble bikes.

i had one (white/blue) and sold it (at a loss).
it sucked as a track bike. the Carbs would keep cutting out on me, Turn 2 T-Hill - almost lowsided me.... 3 ft slide SIDEWAYS.
for some weird reason i could not dial it in - had it at Hare Racing, messed myself with it.... sSOMETHING was off, and i could never figure it out.
May have been a fluke - but i wouldnt buy any old "bubble gixxer" any more.
get something more modern, fuel injected - much easier to re-map than fiddling with carbs... i'm getting tired of it....

IIRC those were the years that had the tip sensor issue, where it would cut the bike off in the middle of the turn wrecking people, i knew someone who wrecked bad from that, but not 100% it was a 99
