Anybody know of info on anybody that's done this? I got limited space/time and just wondering about ideal lane width, turning radiius, how to kick people out, etc...

just start riding around out there and the track will naturally form? looks like you got room for a good straight for one jump too! or you going to be doing excavation and ramp building? :p
kicking people out, attack dogs would work pretty good. then again they might blast through the back fence just to exit!

Yeah, the natural form will come from riding it. It may help to outline the track you want with spray paint and some cones, though. If you want jumps and such, you can go rent one of those small bulldozers and move some earth. Just go find some BMXers at your local HS to help you out. BMX kids build bomb tracks, as long as they're off-road BMXers, not street-style
street style = "flat land" duh.

I used to be a bmxer, I helped build santa clara pal a few times and multiple jumps at calabazas. All you need is a few picks, shovels and some hard work.
Mateo, I would be more than happy to help you lay out a track, just let me know when, ill be there!

i have a small dirt oval in my yard. the lanes are about 3' wide
and the turns are about 5' wide. just start riding through the
grass and weeds. your track will magically appear.

man, a 'build a fiddy track day' sounds good to me. Let me hire some guys to get all the nasty stuff out (nails, old heater, etc from when my house was being remolded) right now I'm thinking 5/3 (after next DIrtyBARF ride), but I'll have to wait untill I get back into town and reasses the mess in the backyard.
Pizza, beer, fiddy's & free labor...err, I mean fellow BARFers!!! w00t w00t!
i'm down! i was going to throw you a line anyways about helping out!

I built a half pipe in my backyard ...had it for a few years so same type of thing. People were always wanting to come back there and ride it. Kicking people out is no trip usually you have your friends there riding with you and if you have to go and they have to leave then so be it....you just say "everybody out!"... pretty simple...but ya you can eventually get LOTS of people at your house and wanting to ride the thing...just be ready for it. =)...also had a 50 circle track in my backyard too before halfpipe was there....i have small backyard so there was alot of crashing into the backyard fences!!...you will get that also....

yeah, I dunno how many people my backyard can hold and still have room to ride/drink/bs. I may have to limit it to people w/50's whom I've meet before? I dunno, we'll see, just opening it up to all of BARF would be a disaster.
Looks like 4/12th will be better/sooner. How does that work anybody interested?
No building necessary, just need help carving out the track, and we might as well do it the fun way.
its gives me two weekends to clean out the bad stuff, and one to haul to the dump.

ditto. this is the US Forresty, the AMA, the enthusiasts, etc. battle in a nutshell. at least it's in your backyard where you can close it off and control access. it's also gotta' be said that if anyone gets hurt they did this all on their own and you cannot be liable for anything. if your neighbors object to the noise or whatever then we must all respect them as well or you could get hit with a fine or ticket or something. there's lots to think about but also consider spark arrestor equipped mini's only too. that said, I'm going to take mine off for shits and giggles but will put it back on anytime risk of brush fire or gotta' keep the noise down. besides still have the stock jet. :p

I'm sure the neighbors would LOVE like 15 xr50's screaming around a track with some bright-ass floodlightlighting up the entire block. :laughing

man F my neighbors. On one side, ima have to b**&c to go halves on a fence so I dont have to look at their nasty dogs and their nastier dog sh*&*t. On the other side I gotta b(*&^h at neighbor for their tree which is growing waaaay into my yard and dropping s s(*&*(&load of leaves on my yard.
So in short order.... F'em. But in general they're cool and as long as it reasonable (daytime) I don't think it'll be a problem.
I'm keeping my stock can on since ill be the one back there most of time.
