Restraining order?

In order to get a restraining order, do you have to have fear for your life? Or if someone's stalking you, is that enough to get the order placed?
 
I'm not quite sure if its worth calling the cops over yet.. I'm hoping he just stops on his own.

I have been having a guy show up to my dorm trying to get in to see me. Well he DID get in. It was someone who got my picture online and then just tried the CCAC dorms since my info said I was a student here. I was told he was very drunk and showing everyone my picture asking who I was. Luckily my roomate was one of the ones he asked, and told him no one that looked like that lived here. He didnt know my name, but he does now. I dont know what he looks like, because I wasnt there, so I dont even know who Im watching for.

He has now shown up twice.
Im kinda scared :(

f3ck that, you don't know this joker from adam or what he's up to. but maybe not enough to go on for the courts? me don't know. just be careful and aware of your surroundings. the gun show is coming up, there's some cool stuff to buy, non-lethal available too. but still call the cops to get it on record.
 
Can I call and give a report without a name? The best description that they could give me was 'some black guy who was really drunk and reeked of alcohol'

Oh yeah, he had after the first time messaged me on Yahoo messenger. He said some creepy stuff. I just put him on my ignore list. But his user name is stored in my ignore list, so would cops be able to trace his ip address to where he connects to the net?
 
They can't do anything if you don't call them....hint...hint...

better than the other way around. (and no disrepect meant for those who have died from rapists or abductors, etc.)

you should ask yahoo to research and turn over the results to the cops too. but first file the complaint and get the case number. you can work with a detective along the way.

Mistyz damn that is some scarey shit. With yahoo, just remember his id is usually his email address too. Don't know if yahoo would disclose much, since it's a freedom act thing. They would fight giving up info, cuz that would open up a can of worms.

I would definetly call the cops and report it. You should talk to the security people if they have some at the dorms.

Worse comes to worse you got my number. I am only 5 mins away. when I am at home :)
 
pretty much all has been said, But . . .

do not pass go, do not collect 200, CALL the Police asap. Let your friends/roommates know what this guy looks like, etc. If they see him again, have them get as good a description as possible. Note anything that might be distinctive. Maybe this guy has done something like this before, and the Police may already have an idea who it is.
Not trying to scare you by saying that. It is best to be prepared.
