so ive been overdue for a new comp and im gonna build my own once again.

after browsing newegg for a while ive planned out this buildup so far.
https://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/Wishlist/PublicWishDetail.asp?WishListNumber=6844911&WishListTitle=future+comp

im trying to keep the cost somewhat reasonable while still making a fairly epic computer. i have a 3d card (ati hd 2600 xt) already that will serve me in the meantime till i can buy a really nice one and then i will end up doing a cross fire setup with the two.

after i get the new card my next step will be saving for a nice projector!

Nice list. I recommend you pick up ANOTHER hard drive. in the area of 200-250 GB for your OS and applications. :thumbup

Don't forget a nice CPU Cooling fan either.

well i dont need a big hardrive for the comp i want to use a big ass hardrive connected on the network and keep most everything there. i was tempted to just get a 64gb ssd. but that raising the price up too much for me. i think the 4gb of ram plus the 4g thumb drive i have and will use readyboost will speed thing up enough for me.

with the case ill be using i dont think cooling will be an issue.

cool, a guinea pig, :twofinger

Let us know how that Phenom works out.

From what I read the Phenom's are currently clocked low due to an error that occurs at higher clocks. Make sure to patch your bios when you get the board.

I was going to go that route, but it was too expensive a lesson if it sucked. :nerd

the mobo i got updates it bios as soon as a newer version is available. it does this with magic!

Ehhhh . . .

I would be careful with that.

Unless a BIOS update is going to fix a problem you are having, or adding a feature you really need, you could end up with a lobotomized PC, with no recourse to anyone to have it fixed.

ditch the amd. get a similar core2duo. get the same mobo, but for intel. ditch the 500gig and get a 74gig raptor, youll thank me later.

do you have a usb headset?otherwise i'd atleast invest in some type of sound card. mobo soundcards usually are crap.

ps. nice case :)

Agreed, turn that shit off.

Get an Intel quad core or Core Duo if you have the cash. AMD can not compete dollar for dollar on performance.

I am going to Intel because while I am a fan of AMD they have given me no choice.

Or just get a cheap AMD X2 until they fix their Phenoms.

core2duo yo.. best way to go for the same price as that phenom.

I'm with the consensus...return that amd shiet! lol j/k Get what you want; if Intel doesn't hurry it up with penryn; i might just have to pull the trigger for this mofo

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3557020&CatId=2430

also, checkout fry's ads; every so often they have a sale on thermaltake's 700-750watt powersupplies for <100 w/ rebate.

Wow, what a deal!! I know XFX offers lifetime guarantee for their video cards, do they have the same for the mainboards as well?

If they do, looks like I'm not done with frivolous purchasing of PC parts.

i believe they qualify that as a "hardware" lifetime warranty. which means they will support you as long as they keep making and selling the card.

well i'll let you know how well the build goes. i like ati cards and want to continue using them and i thought they might work better on an amd platform. i suppose ill find out.

When's the last time you compared specs on this stuff ? My built in "HD Audio" from realtek, beats most "gamer spec" sound cards on the market, SN/R and quality wise.

I always run Creative labs Sound cards. Right now i have the X-Fi Platinum and its good. I did notice some more deeper better bass sounds when i bought it. I have the one without the on board memory... I want the one with the 64MB of on board memory. I use to have the Sound blaster Audigy 1 and the Sound Blaster Live!.

Welp I had the Audigy, Audigy 2, Audigy Gamer. I am now running the HD realtek onboard. Much clearer, more "flat" sounding. Since I'm running my SPDIF out to a digital home theater receiver. This rocks. :thumbup

It was worth it to pay extra for FedEx service rather then wait and wait, while staring at the tracking screen.
